“Terrible customer service”

Order scheduled for delivery on the 21st January which was then moved to the 31st January. No contact from Oak Furniture Land and no delivery turned up. We called the store who were going to speak to head office about this. Our order was then moved to the 7th February (after us taking a day off unpaid to wait in on the 31st). Confirmed with the store that all items would be delivered on the 7th as it meant I had to take another day unpaid off work, which they confirmed. Evening of the 3rd February I received an email confirming my delivery slot and then morning of the 4th February I received an email confirming my refund. After being on hold to 'customer service' for 30 minutes I spoke to a waste of space employee who did not help and instead blamed me for going in to the store (overnight may I add) and cancelling my order. Items now cannot be delivered until the 16th as they have now sold my items to another customer since opening this morning. Waste of time ordering from this company as they have 0 customer service skills.

“Delayed - delayed - Damaged - then damaged replacements”

Ordered in October for guaranteed delivery before Christmas - they cancelled three times. Order finally arrived in January damaged - sent item back. Replacement has just arrived and been unboxed and it's more damaged than the first one. Really quite upset as this is the first nice furniture we really invested in.

“Awful service”

Absolutely awful company to deal with. Placed 4 orders back in September, we have had issues with 3 of them so far. Zero customer service, spent 1.5 hours on hold so far and still haven't been able to speak to anyone. Our latest order was placed in Spetember for delivery in January. Received a message on the delivery day saying there's an issue but doesn't say what the issue is and to call them. Try calling them on the number they provided and no one answers! Avoid

“zero stars ”

I would leave zero stars if I could, the sofa I ordered was to be delivered, and didn't fit, despite me on several occasions giving the dimensions for the front door, the delivery drivers informed me the sales staff regularly do this and its so they get the commission! The drivers where just going to leave the sofa (£2000) in the front garden for me to deal with, until I had to get on the phone to return item, for which they then had the cheek to attempt to charge me, despite on their notes it saying the dimensions. The next part of my order was due to be delivered on 04/01/22, a bed, on 31/12/21 I received a voicemail to say there was a delay, ad they didnt know a delivery time? Four days before the item was due, the staff are beyond unhelpful, bordering on rude, couldn't care less about the customer, It takes a long time to get through to customer services, ad you regularly get cut off whilst on hold, and before oakfurniture land reply and say this was due to covid, that is garbage, its been around long enough now to have contingencies in place, and at least you sould let the customer know asap, not four days before, I would highly recommend avoiding at all costs, and go to a local retailer, where we eventually had to go and which couldn't be more helpful. Oak Furnitureland is certainly one to miss.

“Abysmal Aftersales service ”

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They take your money then their after sales service is abysmal. Waited 8 weeks for delivery of furniture which was ok as this was agreed at order. What was not agreed was a damaged chair on delivery. When I complained I was told 13 weeks for a replacement just before Christmas. Confirmed by email mid December then an email two days later saying delayed. When I rang to get a date I was told mid January, asked to speak to a manager and was promised a call back the next day. No surprise that didn’t happen. Eventually got through to someone after 50 minutes on hold and told 29th December. So the morning arrives and when the delivery team unpack it is a piece from a corner settee. You could not make this level of incompetence up for a comedy sketch it is so unbelievable!!! DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THIS COMPANY SAYS AND WOULD ADVISE NOT TO BUY FROM THEM.

“Non Christmas delivery ”

Ordered and paid in full for a 3 piece suit in September. Paid extra for a pre Christmas delivery. Emailed the 20th dec for delivery between 330/630. So sold our other furniture. At 510 on day of delivery rang to say wrong item put on lorry. 4 phone calls later(all made by ourselves taking at least an hour each time to get through) was told told no more delivery slots before Christmas. Earliest would be 30th December. This is unacceptable as it’s their fault. So left for 10 days with nothing to sit on over Christmas. They have no help at all. Never use them again

“Clinically vulnerable left with no sofas ”

Absolutely disgusting service and support, ordered two sofas and stool, paid upfront in August, agreed a delivery over the quoted time to allow for the pandemic, even though all the adverts and websites say you can have it in 8 weeks, we are now at 15 weeks, two delays lots of apologies but no sofas, you have work to do here, I’m sure trading standards may have an interest in mis-information and mis-selling, however we have cancelled the order and simply taken our business else where. I would suggest any one else who is thinking about ordering anything put it on your Santa list as it got more chance of coming from him than Oak furniture land.

“Shocking delivery and service ”

We had our wardrobe delivered today ,we paid for delivery and for it to be built in our bedroom however they refused to lift it over our bannister so now I have it stuck in our living room and have to try and get it sorted ourselves and we are in our fifties. What is the point in providing this service if they cannot lift its absolutely pointless. We will never use oak furniture land again

I ordered this gorgeous cabinet for an alcove in my living room. I chose my delivery for today,bought and paid for my item a couple of weeks ago. I have had regular updates on my delivery,and was given a 3hr window delivery arrived dead on time. My dresser is stunning,very well made piece of furniture on(even my husband is impressed and he's a retired joiner), there's loads of storage,which is such a bonus. I'm so glad I bought it. I did pay for premium delivery,but to us it was worth it, not to have all the wrapping to dispose of, plus two Man team assembled and put it in place. Really nice friendly guys too. Five stars from me Oak Furniture Land. Highly recommend.

“Still waiting”

2nd June order, 23 Sept delivery rescheduled to 30 Nov. Tracked order - date has disappeared. New date available from mid January but order has not shipped yet. Meanwhile the item is advertised in the sale at £25 more than we paid for it and on 6 week availability- joke!

To all prospective customers of Oak Furniture Land….Shop elsewhere! Three months ago I spent £700 on a bed only for the company to then cost me a further £1200 in lost earnings (I am self employed) as they proceeded to screw up my initial delivery date, and then only delivered half of the bed when they did eventually come. Since then I have told my story of woe to three different customer relations people AND twice in emails to the CEO himself. I have been offered the risible amount of £100 in in-store vouchers, which I have politely refused. Never before have I been treated with such indifference. Once they have your money they quite literally couldn’t care less!

“Advise you not to buy items from here”

We ordered 3 pieces of furniture from oak furnitureland. All very on the ball when ordering, however 1 week before delivery they ring saying the items will not be arriving when they should and will be another 5 months. Joke! So I cancelled the order and bought elsewhere where they had stock. However the young girl who cancelled the order did not put the refund through so I rang again 1 week after to be told it had not gone through. I was then told it will be refunded again and I will have to wait a further 3 to 5 working days, and her manager will send an email immediately advising this had been done. A few hours later I am sat here having had no email sent. Funny but when you buy from anywhere they make sure they take your money straight away but can never give it back straight away. I will never buy from this company again and I advise all of you to think carefully before giving oak furniture your money!!

Our order of four items now delayed twice with the excuse one or more of the items not being available for delivery. We have waited 6 (six) months now which is very unreasonable and puts Oak Furniture Land in the same poor service and delivery league as DFS. Disappointed Hull.

“Not the best quality. Bad insurance ”

Do not take out there Insurance. Sofa broke just after a year. Was sold it as an amazing insurance that would come out and clean it if we wanted. Any spills, breakages, tears etc. It took them 3-4 months to come out, then had a rude technician turn up. Won't do any thing about the tear under the recliner that my wife put a safety pin in to stop the tear. It's been 2 months and still waiting for the replacement mechanism to be delivered for me to either fit myself or book a technician to come and fit, which took 2 months to get them out in the first place. Getting on to be nearly a year for them to fix the recliner. Categorically told they will not touch the rip in the material.

“A complete waste of money”

Very disappointed with the display cabinet. Very poor quality piece of furniture. Cheap looking and shoddily made. Doors I’ll fitting and misaligned and drawer doesn’t fit properly with a large gap all round. Nothing like the colour in the on line photograph which appears to be a light creamy grey. The actual colour is a dark, dingy grey. The delivery men were rude, and it came in the most horrendous amount of packaging - enormous, heavy duty box and masses of polystyrene. These were extremely difficult to remove, whilst trying to ensure the cabinet didn’t fall on us (we would have had to pay an exorbitant £99 to have this service included in with the delivery). Would never buy from this company again, and certainly would never recommend them to anyone else.

“Customer service hahaha”

After waiting 4 months for a bed, the delivery was cancelled at the last minute with a delay of a month or more. Not very convenient when the bed and mattress I had been sleeping on had been disposed of in preparation for the arrival of its replacement. No one had bother to contact me and inform me of the delay. The shop I purchased from in Walsall really didn't give a damn. The refused to help me contact their joke of a customer service department. Instead I spent two hours trying to contact customer services on the phone. Calls that were never answered. I attempted emailing but again got no reply. I then discovered the C.E.Os name and would you believe his actual mobile telephone number with a quick and simple Google search. After an early morning call, I was promised and received a call back within 30 minutes of speaking to him. I now have a refund. This in no way compensates me for the time wasted, the frustration and the fact I have to sleep on the sofa until I can get a more reputable company to deliver an alternative bed. Isn't it amazing what a 7.30am call to the CEO can achieve. I suggest anyone having similar problems with these people do the same. Call the CEO at an inappropriate hour. Do it now before he changes his number. This company should be ashamed of the way they are conducting themselves. I hope they go out of business.

“WAITED 9 MONTHS FOR DAMAGED & BADLY PUT TOGETHER FURNITURE”

We ordered some furniture from the Oak Furnitureland website which was supposed to arrive within 6 weeks. We didn’t get it until 9 months later. When it arrived, one item was damaged, and another had what looked like flecks of paint or woodstain on it. The furniture is generally not very well put together, with gaps in between the joints. For the price we paid, we expected much better quality – the furniture we received looks like factory rejects. We will not be buying from Oak Furnitureland again, and would definitely not recommend.

All I can suggest is to try applying a beeswax polish to the outside if it’s on the inside try putting a tumble dryer sheet inside I hope this helps

Never had this problem with any of my oak furniture but I did purchase a tin of their beeswax polish when I bought the furniture & applied it after delivery, maybe this sealed it?

The smell will eventually disperse on it's own, but as a matter of course, you should give your furniture a good coat if Fiddes Supreme wood wax (add a few drops of lavender oil if you like). The "orrible pong" comes from god knows what sort of wax that is applied in China. If, like my furniture, yours came with a rough texture, apply the new wax with fine wire wool in the direction of the grain. Buff when dry. Repeat 6 monthly if it's in a centrally heated room. Hope that helps.

i did not have to use insurance , but i have recently had to contact oak furniture land about a dinning room chair purchased less than 12 months ago. They contacted me swiftly, located a new chair in their warehouse and delivered me a new one, and the whole matter was resolved in just over a week.

I'm less optimistic than those below. I had dreadful time with OFL, but won in the end. Put everything in writing to OFL. If they call you, then again summarise the conversation in an email to them. Then if (when) you get no joy you have a provable written record. Write to The Furniture Ombudsman, or if you bought it on finance, the Financial Ombudsman. This is an easy process and they are both lovely and easy to work with. You can write to them even if the finance has finished - you're still protected. Check out their websites. The law says that OFL have to deal with your issue within strict time lines - use this against them - or they'll run you in circles until you lose the will to live. DON'T GIVE UP. GOOD LUCK!

We bought leather sofas and chairs and they seem to be good quality although we have only had them for about 3 months. We did do a lot of research as we had previously bought leather recliners from Furniture Village which were not of satisfactory quality. We did buy the Oak Furniture extended warranty product which seems very comprehensive unlike the Furniture Village insurance which only covered accidental damge and not inferior product. Do some research on what questions to ask.

I found that they were very helpful and the furniture is of a very good standard. My wife and I purchased a King-size Oak bed, and it was packaged well on delivery. The assembly was very straight forward and the instructions were easy to follow. I would highly recommend Oak furniture land to anyone and I would go into a store and have a good look at the furniture and you can see the quality of the build. Happy shopping!

I just know they never delivered the products I ordered on the two delivery dates they gave so I cancelled the order as the second cancellation was 6 weeks after I'd placed the order & I needed the items. I don't trust them to deliver when they say they will, they have every reason in the book, but the one off became two off.................

Unfortunately i haven't bought sofas or armchairs from Oak furniture land, however did buy a kingsize bed, wardrobe, 3 dressers, blanket box, computer desk and stool and 2 bedside cabinets and couldn't be more pleased. Oh and they gave me the extra large mirror for nothing!!! I was so impressed with the quality of the products that i have been back to the shop (just a month later) to buy bedroom furniture for my 2nd bedroom and also a TV cabinet for my lounge. The quality was outstanding, delivered by very professional carriers, who even took the time out to show me the best way to unpack each item so as not to hurt my back. The goods were very well packaged and it just took me 2 trips to the tip to dispose of it - they had told me in advance that i would need to dispose of this myself so it wasn't a shock. It was an amazing experience from start to finish and nothing was to much trouble. Would definitely recommend them to my friends and family and will be using them again in the not too distant future!

I had a lot of trouble with my 3 seater sofa and had to have their technicians out on 8 occasions to fix the issues. The faults were more design issues rather than poor quality. My issues have now finally been resolved. The customer service is impeccable and they have never not attended to my issues. I would urge you not to buy online and visit a store to make sure you get a good look at what you want to buy.

I'm afraid I have no experience of purchasing 'soft' furnishings from Oak Furniture Land: that said I would look for a hardwood frame. real leather, not a plastic alternative as was highlighted last week from another manufacturer, microfiber synthetic leather, or leather faced!

I am sorry that it took so long for Oak furniture Land to arrive in Belfast, but now they are here we can see the quality of their products first hand. I would recommend Oak Furniture to all that are interesting in buying furniture from this company. I cannot recommend them highly enough. It is the first time that I have bought solid furniture but once had a contract in a solid furniture assembly factory so I was used to seeing good quality furniture being made. The service from start to finish was superb. Delivery on time, called by the driver before to give me notice of his arrival, helped up some very difficult stairs to the first floor, assisted with arranging the boxes in the right order and then I was left to put the furniture together. Very robust, superbly made furniture, easy to follow assembly instructions, all parts were there and were not cheap tacky components either. Once assembled, the triple wardrobe looks like it will outlast me! Superb finishes on all surfaces. I was so pleased, I phoned their customer service team JUST to thank them for the service and quality of product. I've never used them before and have no connection to them at all but would never hesitate to use them to replace other furniture.

I bought a large range of bedroom furniture 3 double wardrobes, two sets of drawers, a dressing table and two bedside tables. The wardrobes were good but all had a slight fault, nothing glaring most people wouldn`t see them but the rest of the furniture was first class. If you do buy remember to make sure they can fit through your doors and this includes the packaging. Would I recommend them, yes but check your purchases throughly.

Can't comment on sofas & armchairs; but if the oak dining table with 6 leather chairs, sideboard and (free) mirror, that this company shipped to the depths of Cornwall (March 2015), is anything to go by; then I'd say the quality is likely to be excellent. We had no problems with this company nor with the delivery (we'd arranged to be in Cornwall at the time). Assembly was easy (with table upside down to install the legs) BUT the table was so exceedingly heavy I had to get a local friend, the next day, to help us upright it. My experience with Oak Furniture Land was very good.

Avoid,I bought leather 3 piece suite, had no end of bother with them.been waiting since 21/12/15 for them to come and repair one of the chairs.

I have only purchased wooden products from them but the quality it exceptional. The customer service in my experience is also very good as I did have the need to contact them once but other wise it is a very simple process, you are also kept well informed about the delivery side too.

Honest opinion I would not go near them. Quality of goods that I received were very poor/damaged and they were not interested in replacing, they wanted to repair? Why repair new goods that are damaged. I don't remember opting to buy damaged goods. So was left with no option of sending it all back at my own cost! Very poor customer service not what I expected.

Personally I had a great experience with Oak Furniture Land. They were helpful, quick to deliver and I am still very pleased with my sofa and arm chairs, I have had no problems with the quality I am very pleased to say.

I bought two bedside cupboards and a taller chest of drawers in the bella range. They are actually for my lounge to go beside my sofas and in an alcove. They are really solid and the cream colour is lovely. All drawers are solid and well made. Communication was excellent throughout the whole process and delivery was accurate. The packaging was absolutely fantastic. Layers and layers of bubble wrap and cardboard so very well protected. I would have no hesitation in ordering from them again.

Do yourself a favour and either use old bread crates or old tea chests, or planks on blocks!! OFL is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. The table I had collapsed within a year. but still OFL would not replace it - despite a Professional Survey (which they finally organised) saying it was a manufacturing fault. PEOPLE OF THE UK - IF YOU MUST BUY FROM OFL THEN USE THE INTEREST FREE CREDIT. THEN WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS YOU CAN CONTACT THE FINANCE COMPANY (WHO WONT HELP BECAUSE THEY'RE AFRAID OF OFL). BUT THEN YOU CAN WRITE TO THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN WHO WILL FORCE THE FINACNE COMPANY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. This is what I had to do. OFL would do NOTHING and still did NOTHING. It took me ages and ages to get the problem sorted out - it is only sorted out now because of my following the pathway above. Best advice - AVOID.

happy to help have 2 sofas a 2 seater and a 3 seater both in material ,have had them over 7 months and they seem sturdy enough,the material is quite coarse and needs covers,our last sofas were in leather and also came from the same place they also lasted well bu were cold when you first sit on them which is why we made a change,hope this is of help .

Hi, We recently bought dining table, chairs, sideboard, entertainment centre and coffee table from Oak Furnitureland and are very happy with the quality of the furniture. We were happy with the carefully packaged and prompt delivery of our furniture. The seats of the dining chairs are comfy, easy to clean and well made. Even though we haven't bought any sofas or armchairs we would happily return to Oak Furnitureland if we needed to buy any. Hope this helps with your purchase decision.

I have recently bought several pieces of furniture from Oak Furnitureland - dininig set, coffee table, entertainment center - and would happily return to them if I was looking to buy sofas or armchairs. I have been very pleased with the quality, look and workmanship of all our furniture. The seating of the chairs is comfy and easy to clean - basically very practical. We bought two electric recliner leather armchairs and a two seater electric recliner leather sofa, we paid over two thousand pounds in May 2015. The quality (in my opinion) is total rubbish. The seats on all three pieces have sunken, the sponge in all the seats is near enough flat and the leather therefore is baggy on the seat area. All the mechanics in the three pieces squeak and rattle and the leather has a very shabby look about it despite using the leather cleaner and polish we were talked into buying when we bought the suite. There is only my wife and I, we have no other family and we have very few visitors, so the suite has never been abused, but it looks years old. We had problems from day one, the company (including the owner) don't answer letters or emails. The customer service people will just fob you off with anything they can get away with. The company are not members of the Furniture Ombudsman, therefore cannot be challenged by the authorities. Any decent company will be members of the Furniture Ombudsman, it is obvious why they are not members. Take my advice and buy anywhere else but Oak Furniture Land and save yourself hundreds of pounds. Oak Furniture Land were slated by Watchdog on the television in 2015 (unfortunately after we bought). If you do decide to buy from Oak Furniture Land make sure you use a Credit Card, you can then apply for "charge back" from the card company if you have problems. We bought with a debit card so we didn't have that option.

Make sure they will fit through your door and into your living room as the one I purchased wouldn't, and I had to return it and it cost me £300 as they charge you 30% to return anything. It's the last time I buy anything from them.

Hi The quality of the products are great but the attitude of Oak Furniture Land Customer Services stinks. Be careful ordering sofas & armchairs. If they decide that they cannot get them through your front door easily (It's too difficult for them to remove cushions) they will give you the choice of leaving them on your drive or taking them back but adding 30% on the bill for the inconvenience. As much as the products are good I would not order from them for the above reasons. It seems that once you have signed on the dotted line & paid the money they will not put themselves out to help you. The drivers are so tied up by Oaks policies that they are scared of their own shadows

Don't bother with their leather furniture. I have the Clarence corner sofa and armchair that don't match in colour or finish and they fob you off with all sorts of excuses. They have deemed them not outside of their tolerance levels and say the difference is minimal. So they are admitting there is a difference but wont do anything about it. Have got finance company involved, as they are equally liable under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, who have said I have to take my complaint to the Furniture Ombudsman.

I can only go from our experience, and it was a tragedy; a costly one at that. We purchased double wardrobe, triple wardrobe, double bed, bedding box and two bedside cabinets. It's a lengthy story, so I won't get into it here, but I would say that we wouldn't deal with them ever again. The five star ratings are all well and good; it's hard to tell someone that this company is a shambles when everything goes right. But when things go wrong? Look out, because their customer services will wear you down to your knees. Shoddy workmanship, each piece falling about, they wouldn't offer a refund and the only way was to pay to send the items back; actually, the snatched our hands off in charging us £200 for us to be rid of them. We each deal with suppliers and judge them by the way they perform; sadly, for us it was an abysmal affair which had my wife in tears and £200 poorer. Cross your fingers and hope that you will not be one of the 'one-star- raters' who have been ripped off by this unscrupulous company. I could only say that I truly wish you luck should you purchase, and then wish you luck, in that nothing goes wrong or becomes untowards from then-on.
