Poor quality not worth the money

Serious defects, paintwork cracking and bubbling, with knots bleeding through and excessive shrinkage, door hinges out of alignment and broken parts, gaps in the fascia allowing water ingress. There is no accountability, endless delays. ( 14 months ) we spent over £24k. If you’re considering spending thousands on a garden office building, I strongly urge you to shop around. Malvern has provided a truly terrible customer experience over a 14 month ordeal, that still remains unresolved.

Heavy duty shed

We’re happy! We were looking to replace an existing rather tired shed with something slightly larger & more substantial. We visited the local Malvern centre and the representative was extremely helpful, helping us to order what we wanted. A shed but with insulation & double glazing. He stressed we must ensure our existing concrete base was satisfactory before the erectors turned up to avoid a charge for a wasted visit. Impossible to do until the old shed was removed. Once exposed, we thought the base was mostly okay but there was some unevenness which concerned us. The representative offered to check the base, came out, also expressed some concern, liaised with the factory & suggested a solution - a sub frame at an additional cost of £189. We accepted this to avoid problems during installation. When the fitters arrived, they decided that the sub frame was unnecessary & provision of some spacers would be sufficient. The shed was erected quickly, without any further issue and on completion the fitters confirmed on the installation note that the base wasn’t needed. Within 3 days, the £189 was re-credited to us without us having to follow up. The shed seems of good quality & suits our needs exactly. It’s been pre-wired for power & lighting in the positions we requested as part of the installation and our electrician will install the fittings & reconnect the power supply. The question about the existing base suitability was a concern and it did feel that Malvern were a bit inflexible initially but we could appreciate that an inadequate base could waste a complete day for their installers. In the end, Malvern’s representative & fitters were very helpful and all was well.

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Poor quality, no accountability, endless delays. If you’re considering spending thousands on a garden building, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Malvern has provided a truly terrible customer experience — a three-month ordeal that still remains unresolved. Avoid this company unless you’re happy to become the unpaid project manager of your own unfinished, subpar garden building.
I didn’t believe the concerned reviewers at the time of purchase — unfortunately, they were right. If I could give zero stars, I would. The first installation had to be completely dismantled and rebuilt because the structure was leaning forward and to one side, with one corner propped up on plastic packers — leaving a visible gap underneath. A professional job, apparently. You’d think such a disaster would warrant an immediate site visit and explanation by someone who knew what they were doing. You’d think.
Alas, it remained like that for two weeks — visibly shifting and settling into its warped position — while I chased them to return. And that two-week turnaround? A battle in itself. Was I given a replacement building? Of course not — just the same one, patched back together. Ongoing Issues (yes, still going…)
Now the count is four visits over three months — and key problems remain unresolved. Yes, the bulging tongue-and-groove panelling has been refitted. The glass doors have been replaced too. But they still rattle — and, according to Malvern, always will. The warped shed door? Also “normal,” and will remain warped. The bulging laminate floor? Still bulging. And the paint finish? A mess. I chose a dark colour (don't!)— my reward: greasy blotches, bulging and blistering, visible knots, unsprayed patches, and exposed silicone around the windows and doors. Each visit adds more patchy filler and uneven paint. Quite the opposite of a premium finish. You’ll need to do your own quality control. Malvern’s quality control is non-existent. Expect chips, cracks, warps, unsanded knots, and rough notches straight from the factory. You’ll be the one catching the flaws — because they certainly won’t. They rely on you not noticing. Fitters are hit-or-miss. Some are competent. Others damage your property — so if you care about your decking, paving, or garden surfaces, beware. They may spill paint on yours too, and cause damage, oh and never even mention it. Customer service: an oxymoron. Don’t expect to be treated like a valued customer — you’ll be just a number in a queue of half-finished jobs. Each issue you raise sends you back to the end of the line, that’s if they even remember to submit your paperwork, and every response is painfully slow. The delays are not just long — they’re endless. “Compensation” and communication Full disclosure: I did receive a small refund for the damage — though calling it "compensation" is generous. I was also offered a site visit from a director, but declined due to (you guessed it) the unbearable wait time. It was also somewhat ridiculous that the visit was to "understand" my experience — as if my extensive emails, photo evidence, and formal complaint hadn’t already done that. Is Malvern for you? If you’re excited about managing your own botched installation, enjoy chasing silence, and like watching your building deteriorate while you wait months for basic fixes — Malvern might be the company for you. But if you expect a finished product that looks like what’s on their show site, installed properly and backed by meaningful support? Look elsewhere.

Excellent building and customer service

We bought the Hopton Redwood 7x7 Summerhouse. The order process was very good, we ordered it some late last year whilst they had a sale on, and they were happy to wait to deliver the building until the new year once we had removed the old summerhouse and upgraded the base. All of their buildings are customisable and the order process is easy. Their customer sales office staff are friendly and helpful, and the installers did a good professional job. Overall, we are really pleased with the Malvern Summerhouse and the company in general

Great service

We have just purchased 3 Malvern buildings; a Victorian greenhouse, a shed and a pavilion with gazebo. The whole process was slick. We were kept well informed throughout and on the installation days the men did a great job. Thank you to everyone involved.

Malvern Astwood 10x6 Ex-Display

Salesman at the Shrewsbury site was very helpful and knowledgeable. He helped us source companies to install the hardstanding area and electrics. Once ordered communication was very good. Installation team were friendly and polite as were the after sales team. We are very happy with our new garden room. Our only comment would be the company send too much duplicate paperwork/invoices.

Poor qualty roofing/ shoddy application. Customer after care dismissive.

Had to replace felt on roof after 18…

Had to replace felt on roof after 18 months due to shoddy workmanship and low quality roofing felt. Shed purchased "The Malvern Collection Ltd " Even low quality felt has an expected life of 10 years if fitted correctly. Not from these merchants it is not.

Shed was manufactured, delivered and erected by The Malvern Collection Ltd, Granville Works.

Felt

Even low quality felt has an expected life of 10 years if fitted correctly. Not from these merchants it is not. Roofing felt adhesive was not applied, nor were the overlaps sealed. The clout nails were hammered home on the edge of the overlap causing the felt to rip at every nail point eventually leading to rainwater leakage to inner shed.

Despite what is stated on their promo site as below:

The Malvern Collection range of garden rooms comes with a comprehensive guarantee from a company that has been manufacturing and installing buildings for over 50 years.

Specifications

“All buildings have a structural 10 year guarantee which includes rot and decay. All other workmanship and materials are guaranteed for a period of 2 years from the date of installation.........”

Clearly, not the case. They will claim elsewhere that the guarantee is for a period of 12 months.

When I called to report the leakage from roof on a garden building costing over £3K, 17 months ago, my complaint was dismissed out of hand simply because it "was out of guarantee". So how is it that felt manufacturers state that their products are expected to have a life span of a minimum of 10 years if correctly fitted/applied, yet this lot can only give an expected life of 12 months.

Not only is their promo material incorrect as stated above their workmanship can only be described as poor. Same with customer care interaction. Effectively said "tough luck" out of guarantee.

Considering notifying Trading Standard as Specifications and Brochures are in conflict.

Was considering purchasing a Summer House from these merchants but certainly not now. For the sake of cost of a roll of felt (£44) I will be going elsewhere.

So do check their extremely low level guarantee of felt and workmanship before proceeding with any order manufactured by these merchants- The Malvern Collection Ltd.

Note: it would appear that Malvern Garden Buildings Ltd and other merchants include The Malvern Collection Ltd products within their portfolio.
