Best Mid Size All Rounder

Bought mine after my wife picked it over the 650 v-strom. First time my wife's choice was the better one.

We love this bike, and did over 20000km in our 1st year. Ours have the yamaha touring screen, and it's a great all rounder for the money.

Friends of ours took it for a spin, and bought one 3 months later. Two years later and he decided to upgrade to a Z1000sx. Now he wants to keep the FZ6.

I had problems with the bike jerking after every wash, but now avoid to much water over the electronics, and it solved the problem.

I'm not going to say what i like about the bike(Every thing except), but rather what i don't, like.

Gearbox, under seat storage, stiff clutch for the lady's and also the mirror position.

People this is a great bike for the money, and compare it with bikes in it's class and you will find that it is most likely your best option in it's class.

Just bought my FJR 1300 (2005) but holding on to the FZ6 for those other days when i want to have a ride on something that puts a smile on my face as soon as i start it up.

Quick, Reliable And Cheap To Maintain

I bought my 2005 FZ6 used, three years ago, with only 4,000 miles on it. It now has 26,000 miles and has been completely reliable. I do regular oil changes and have changed the spark plugs, air filter, chain/sprockets and tires when needed. Mileage is consistently around 45-50 mpg (easy 200 miles from a tank of gas). It is geared for making full use of the rev-happy engine ( 14,000 rpm redline.....yikes!) so if you're cruising at 80 mph the engine is turning over at something like 7,000 rpm (years ago I owned a Norton and a Moto Guzzi and my memory is that their engines "loafed" at that speed). My biggest day on it was just under 700 miles (thank you, Texas!) and there were no surprises. I've taken it up in the mountains to 10,000 feet and it runs fine, so I have no complaints about the fuel injection or engine management systems. Parts are easy to get and are reasonably priced. I think of the FZ6 as being somewhat like a Mazda Miata: fun in the twisties, well-made, affordable, and neither worryingly rare nor boringly common. I laid it down in a corner last year and broke off a foot peg and scraped the fairing. No big deal. New foot peg and the scrapes don't bother me because it's not a Vincent Black Shadow. It's a mass-produced, well-engineered Yamaha that looks good, always starts and goes fast. I'm happy.

Probably The Best Bike I've Owned

I got this late 2008 to replace my 600 bandit. Took ages trying to work out what the best balance of size, cost, peformance and handling would be. Eventually settled on this. It is great 2 up, really stable. Fantastic acceleration. Handling is excellent until the tyres need replacing. Economy is quite good. I seem to get about 45mpg on average. Not one thing has gone wrong so far. I ride it to work everyday regardless of weather except snow, although i did get caught once. Of all the bad things i've read about this the only one i can agree on is the slighty clonky gear change. Of course it's peaky compared to a bigger bike like a 1200 bandit, but it will also easily outrun most bikes like that. This is the 35th bike i've owned and definately the most satisfying.

This Bike Does It All Very Well. After 2 1/2 Yrs I

This bike does it all very well. After 2 1/2 yrs I still love this bike. A very comfortable but athletic riding position with perfect balance. I've rode a full day of high speed twisties and still felt physically great. A great commuter bike with the quiks to get out of tight spots. But get this bike up over 100 kph(and much faster!)on twisty roads and it's in it's element. Fast acceleration and super smooth. If value, performance and versatility are what you're looking for, this is a GREAT choice. I put a Puig windshield and Batlax BT 016 tires on and I can't wipe the smile of my face.

Looks Fantastic, Powerful Smoth Engine, Engine Bra

Looks fantastic, powerful smoth engine, engine braking very good. Brakes excellent. reliable and excellent all rounder. I've had the bike 6 months and definately don't regret choosing it. No other bike ticks so many boxes. Love it :)But engine is a Jeckyll and Hyde being fairly smooth up to about 6K then it goes beserk and flies to the red line. Standard screen poor, changed to touring screen 100% better.

What Can I Say, "mint" My First Big Bike And I'm W

What can I say, "MINT" My first big bike and I'm well impressed. love the look with underseat pipes and the gadgetry dash is good too. Mine rides realy smooth but have't had the balls to realy open it up yet. Very quick on acceleration and well balanced for hitting the bends with throttle open. The inline 4 seems to have irratic enging breaking so I suppose the discs and pads will last ages. Takes some getting used to but good once you are.

Just love it. Kids have grown up so I am free to just choose at random times to get out the bike and all the homelife stresses are left behind in the exhaust fumes and are completely forgotten about until I lock it up again.

The Fz6, Being An Inline-four Motor Is Very Powerf

The FZ6, being an inline-four motor is very powerful at low rpms, comparative to any other simular motor. And Yamaha doesn't make the bandit, so I find it hard to believe (I'm quite positive it's made by Suzuki) and a Yamaha FZ6 will beat a 1200 bandit in any style race, due to the nature of it's herratige. The FZ6 is a higher performance machine.

Best All around bike. performs amazingly, affordable, durable. I am looking at 6500 miles already and not one complaint. See above.

Feels Good To Ride, Can Be A Little Daunting At Fi

Feels good to ride, can be a little daunting at first but gets better as you get used to it.

Excellent all rounder for nipping in between traffic and commuting long distances.
