BTS (Hongdou) GY200 Panther 198

Bought this bike for straight forward 12 mile round trip commute to work and back. For this it was fine, any further afield and the vibration generated became painful(and it blew bulbs faster).In spite of this it did the job I bought it for very well. The finish on the plastic body panels was good. The finish over the frame was quite frankly appalling and within a couple of months I 'd repainted the frame with black hammer-rite which returned it to A1 condition. I changed the oil every 1000 miles to ensure engine life. 8 months after I'd bought it and done just under 2500 miles the rear brake torque arm broke. Fortunately at low speed.This caused the brake rod to wrap around the axle and locking the wheel solid. Damage was caused to the axle, the brake actuating mechanism and the swing arm. BTS were very unsympathetic and after I'd emailed pictures they said in their opinion the bike had been serviced incorrectly. I found that unacceptable and when I tried to press the matter they simply refused to communicate further. On the basis that you get what you pay for( and I didn't pay much) I have not perused the matter. I guess that the final test of any product is 'would you buy another'.. The instant reply to this is a definite NO. The failure of that component could have killed me, it is not a service item and was due solely to dreadful manufacturing. You pays your money you takes your choice...
