I Bought A 2007 Model When I Just Could Not Wait F
I bought a 2007 model when I just could not wait for the 2008 model to come out. In retrospect it was a mistake. I did not realise that the 2007 was carbed rather than injected and it did not even have a fuel lamp.
On the positive side, the bike is beautiful. The unique shape of the tank on the 2007 model make it even better looking than later models. However, interested buyers should be aware of what they are letting themselves in for.
For one thing, the America, like all cruisers in general, needs excellent road surfaces. Ride it on even slightly uneven surfaces and it's a chiropractor you need. The turning circle is also too large to make this a practical bike although I have ridden a Yamaha Dragstar 1100 and that has the turning circle of the planet Saturn. Starting the carbed engine may also require a second attempt.
To conclude, as far as aesthetics are concerned, this bike has no peers. It really is amazing how many people stop to admire. Having said that, practicality is something I miss tremendously and will probably buy a BMW or a Guzzi for every day use.
