Very Good Day

I went here two years ago just to take a cbt and I had no problems with any of the staff or there teaching methods , anyone who has said they are bad is a really stupid way to down a company doing what they know best , all the trainers there are good and willing to help with any trouble you may be having , yes the helmets maybe used and the jackets used but if you don't like that buy your own and take your own it's as simple as that really , above all the people below need to take there business elsewhere and stop moaning , your son/daughter didn't pass for a certain reason and told you other reasons besides the truth as to why they didn't pass , great company using them again this year and will keep using them !!!!

Would Not Recommend

Very bad instructor who spoilt the experience for us. I will persue my dream of driving a motorcycle but will definatly go to another training school.

Cbt Traing At Raktrain

Just done a CBT with these guys and had to write a short review.

I had ridden bikes some 30 years ago and decided to get back on 2 wheels again. After talking to one of the instructors at Raktrain I booked the day.

What an eyeopener! I thoroughly enjoyed my training with my Instructor Paul, he is a pleasant patient guy and helped me enormously with my figure of 8 and u turn exercises. The road ride part was the most enjoyable thing I have done on the road in years, apart from the appallingly bad driving we witnessed from the BMW driver!

Thoroughly recommend Raktrain and after doing my Theory test soon will be booking a DAS course with them.

10 out 10 guys

Could Be Good If Only The Management Were Better

Took my son there for his CBT and though the instructing staff seemed nice, the management were just overly rude and abrupt. He got through, but at the end of the afternoon when I picked him up he was downhearted and really set back on his idea of getting onto his new scooter. We were not overly impressed with the quality of the bikes and lending out a helmet that smelt and looked liked it had been dropped was not in any way filling us with any confidence. This place may well do well if the junior instructors buy the owner out and inject some money, but until then I cant recommend. Final straw for me was when my son was getting into the car, one of the instructors came over and apologised sheepishly for his boss being "So unpleasant" and he was having "One of his bad days" but asked us not to tell anyone. Son number 2 wont be going there when he hits 16, we will be hunting for somewhere else, even if we have to travel. 3 Stars just because there are some decent people working there.

Motorcycle Cbt

I booked a CBT with RAKtrain in June 2011.

I was very apprehensive and nervous when I walked into the training room to find that I was the only woman present. I need not have been! Paul and Mark, my instructors, immediately put me at ease and pointed me in the right direction to choose a jacket and gloves. They helped me try on several helmets until we found one that fitted correctly.

After the other 7 students arrived the course started. What an eye opener!

We had a series of exercises to perform on our bikes outside which I found very difficult, but with Paul and Mark's patience and understanding I managed to complete to a standard that they were happy to take me out on the road!

After a detailed briefing about what we should expect on the road etc we were off!

Brilliant fun :) I struggled for about 1 hour on the road before everything seemed to click - then started to enjoy myself. The 2 hour road ride passed quickly before the other student and myself were back at the Road Safety Centre for a debrief and Paul wrote out the all important CBT certificate - I was now legal!!

So, a big THANK YOU GUYS for all the help and encouragement, I now own a CG125 and so far have loved every minute of my new found freedom!

Maybe Good Training Centre But....

This is a repeat review of my 1st for RAKtrain, since i was too fast to review them whilst they offered somekind of refund for the following event.

I did not take the course in the end so i will not comment on the quality of the training.

RAK accepts only GB driving licence holders,if you go for training. No GB licence,no training-no refund.

I didnt give much notice to this and went, but they could not train me as my licence is an EU one.

I do not Have to exchange my licence, unless i want to,for a set time.I still have plenty of time but thats irrelevant. ( i may migrate lets say..)

Info can be found on DVLA website.

RAK was kind to refund £24.00 out of the total £99.00 that i paid, since i could not take the training.

They could not re-schedule me on a later date, after exchanging my licence, surely they must have had some empties,we are not full of motorbikers out on the road.Company policy,ok ,what can i say.

I let everything go and my lesson learnt, but for customer attitude and service i wouldnt reccomend at all.

I was not given more than 4 minutes time to talk about it,the manager was running around with papers in his hands saying I have things to do and above all "unfortunately we are in the EU,i wish we weren't",the comment with racist tone in it on a customer's face. What is the reason for that?

I kinda felt sorry for the rest of the stuff because they might not have the same opinion, but if the manager speaks out,he speaks for all.

I came to take training for a motorbike, not to argue politics.By that attitude you make your own assumptions about the person that will train you and qualify you in the end, to drive in Uk AND the rest of Europe!!

Ref £24 refund, every customer who fails to attend their course with us loses only their deposit. However, if we manage to re-sell their course, we offer a 100% refund.

Refund conditions are made very clear at the time of booking and also in their joining instructions, along with the legal requirement for a UK driving/provisional licence!

This particular customer wanted RAKtrain staff to illegally train him on the roads using his Greek driving licence.

We explained this was not possible but that he could stay with the group and learn to ride a bike on our private site and come back another day to complete his training when he had the correct UK licence.

The customer admitted to residing and driving in the UK for 9 years at which point we explained that he should have surrendered his licence for a UK licence afer 3.

We went on to explain that by breaking the law as he was, he was driving around without insurance and, if challenged by the police he was looking at numerous fines, driving bans and an extended test when allowed to drive again.

The above facts were confirmed by an off duty policeman who also happened to be on the same CBT course who took great interest in the person's car registration when he drove off.

Update on the above review - they emailed and offered a £24 refund out of the £99 total.

Still, there could be a better solution.
