Great Little Cg Copy

Bought this the other week and love it, it's reasonably fast (for a 4 stroke 125, my previous bike was a yamaha tzr 125 which hit 100 mph no drama) and has more umph than the cbf which is a very sluggish bike. The x-stream sits at 70, is comfy and easy to handle. Very hard to find parts for it, and I don't like the square headlight much. It's great on fuel too. I love the little toolkit that comes with it, and the quick access panels on the side. One thing about mine is the choke will open itself when I do a few miles at 70 then brake for roundabouts or slip roads.

Have Owned This For 2 Years And Not Regretted It.

Have owned this for 2 years and not regretted it.

Pros

-Unusually powerful engine for a 125, (and it is faster than its Honda counterpart).

-Top speed 70+ mph (only for X-stream BT125-5 not other BT125-5 makes).

-Solid build & heavy chassis capable of high speeds.

-Very cheap to buy and run

-Runs on air

Cons:

-Chinese

-Spare Parts are difficult to obtain.

-Can be prone to rust if you don't take care of it.

-Handling and brakes are average

Amazing Bike, Bought It For £250. I Was Abou

Amazing bike, bought it for £250. I was about to give up on chinese bikes after owning a Chituma CTM-125 (a shituma) which was very poor and dangerous.

This bike is totally different, it's amazing, starts instantly with engine cold (no choke even) and such good value for money.

However:

My x-stream BT125-5 commuter classic easily goes 75mph fitting A2 standard bike test requirements (62.1 mph).

And yet recently an examiner did not let me take my standard bike A2 test because he claimed he could not prove its power, so forced an A1 on me.

Where can I find the power output online or a user manual?

Well I Bought My X-stream Classic Commuter About A

well i bought my X-stream classic commuter about a year ago for £270 good nick and it got me to work and back no probs. i had a few probs early on such as the hub smashed but that was because i didnt tighten the chain on it for a while so that was my bad. about 3 months ago it got stolen out of my garden and got recovered a few days later after being in the canal down the road for a few days and i thought damn thats it no more bike. anyway i took it home and left it in the shed for a week to dry and started trying to get it working again. charged the battery and changed oil and gave it a general clean up and sure enough it ran. i couldnt belive it. totally submerged in canal for 2 days and it runs just as good. its got me to university and back for the last few months and never put a foot wrong. I RECOMMEND THIS BIKE TO ANYWAY WHO WANTS A GOOD BIKE BUT DONT WANT TO SPEND MUCH MONEY. im selling it now. the only problem i say this bike has is the indicators are rubbish and always fall off lol.

The X-stream Commuter Classic Is Good Fun And Bril

The X-Stream Commuter Classic is good fun and brilliant for the price. However, you must be gentle with it and look after it. I suspect it won't take much rough treatment. Having said that I would recommend it as mine has proved very reliable and the engine seems fine. However - remember you get what you pay for and the quality of build is not in the same league as Honda!

The Design Of The X-stream Commuter Classic 125 Is

The design of the X-Stream Commuter Classic 125 is pretty simple and the constructing is strong, but there's no boot for any chains and locks, so if you try to go faster than 70mph it kind of slows down. For a mere 80 pound you can get it to go faster, about 20mph faster indeed, by putting better air filters and better exhaust. I think some of them are restricted, like till you do a certain amount of miles, so you do less damage to the engine. This bike is also very powerful. My friend and I went on the back = 26 stone both of us and we got it up to 60mph on a bumpy field. The suspension is also great and it sounds really cool too, like my dad's Yamaha R6.

Though the idea of crossing a bumpy field at 60mph on pretty much anything carrying a couple of 13 stone guys (I assume that's what you meant, rather than two 26-stone ones), much less anything below a 400cc dirtbike or 600cc enduro tourer, or maybe a landcruiser, also makes me wonder if you're looking at the right numbers on the speedo. You know the scale which goes up to 140~160 on a typical 125cc is kilometres, not miles, right?

markpenrice

90mph requires about 2/3rds more power than 70mph - are you saying that by doing the very most basic imaginable breathing mods you can get this otherwise staid 125cc to release an extra 60% or more power, and thus probably 17+ bhp altogether, despite being a CG copy at heart and therefore a single-lobe-cam, pushrod valve, stone-age-carburettor, conservative-ignition-timing design, with gearing that typically sees you hitting the rev limiter around 80?

Generally This X-stream Commuter Classic Is A Grea

Generally this X-Stream Commuter Classic is a great wee bike, mine was £580 taxed, registered and delivered in a crate. It took a couple of hours build and was pretty straight forward which was lucky as there were no instructions. I have put about 1500 miles on it over the winter to and from work, washing it regularly and it is kept garaged. It has needed work on the brakes that quickly got clogged up, I don't think they were greased up to begin with. The speedo cable needed replaced, and the centre stand broke, it's very weak metal and the weight of the bike eventually snapped it. The rear suspension wing arm was rusting up so I stripped it back and treated it and gave it a new paint job that should last. More recently the electric start has given up the ghost so I'll have a look at that over the next day or two.

All that said it is a great bike for the money and if you don't mind staying on top of the maintenance it should last. The engine runs well and once run in carry's me at 50 - 60 mph although it dies on hills. It has done it's job and I reckon it is an ideal learner bike.

Note of caution though - my mate bought a scrambler version and has kept it outside. The bike is totally knackered after 10 months through a Scottish winter, he isn't really into maintenance and as a result it is basically now a death trap!!

I Got My X-stream Commuter Classic Off Ebay For A

I got My X-Stream Commuter Classic off eBay for a bargain price of £380 + £160 P&P!! They register it and tax it for you which is included in the price. I expected to get what I paid for really, but I am amazed at the quality of the bike. It is based on the old Honda CG's. It runs like a dream and will easily cruise at 60+ MPH once broken in, be careful not to put too much stress on the engine for the first 300 Miles, I would suggest keeping it below 7,000 Rpm, this should ensure the engine is kept in top condition. I can't think of anything better to be riding in and arround town as the bike is really light and handles great. It can keep up with all traffic, however when it comes to hills this bike seems to give up unless you drop it down a gear. I am not sure if this bike is restricted or not but it seems to not want to go above 70. The speedo and clocks are really coll and retro with easy to read dials and a digital gear selector! This comes in very handy. So far I have done about 1000 Winter miles on it and there is NO sign of rust or corrosion. The engine runs sweet as a nut. All the electrics are perfect. My bike came in a box and took about 3 hrs to put together, a little more than the 30 mins claimed by the company that import them. Insurance was dirt cheap aswell and when it comes to taxing the bike it will only be £15!

Overall The X Stream Commuter Classic Is A Good Bi

Overall the X Stream Commuter Classic is a good bike but it's difficult to find spare parts. I like it very much, if we compare with Honda CG125 then both has simillar things but only difference is that price and design. Otherwise X-Stream and CG125 both has a same format and power I like X-stream
