Hidden Charges, Intimidating Staff

My review is for go services in Epsom. I visited this garage on 21/02/14 with a prepaid groupon voucher. Upon collecting my vehicle I was told that I owed the garage an extra £22 for a special type of oil they had used. Unfortunately I was not made aware of any additional charges prior to the service or whilst it was taking place. For that reason I arrived to collect my car without any means of payment. (The service had already been paid for). When I explained to the garage that I had no idea I would be charged extra and that I had no money with me they told me I couldn't leave the garage without payment. I asked if they could send me an invoice to pay at a later date but they said it would not be possible. I took my car keys to leave and they asked a mechanic to block my car in. They then placed a mechanic by the door of the garage to prevent me leaving. I had to call my partner to come and collect me from the garage. After the garage agreeing to invoice me (an hour later) I was allowed to leave. However, after leaving the garage I realised they hadn't given me my service book. I returned straight away to ask for it and the shrugged and said they had no idea where it went. They suggested another customer may have taken it or 'the cleaners might find it' after that, I called and emailed the garage for a week with no response. Until, finally, I was told a week later that the book had turned up and I could have it if I paid the £22, which I did. As you can imagine as a 24 year old women on my own I felt intimidated, frightened and as though I had no options throughout the whole experience. I would never recommend anyone to use this garage. The staff are forceful, careless and unapologetic .

As the manager on duty on the day this lady visited us I feel it necessary to highlight the actual events.

The customer did purchase a Groupon which clearly stated Synthetic Oil is subject to a £22 surcharge. This was clearly stated prior to purchase and also in the confirmation email sent prior to her visit.

When the customer collected her vehicle she erupted, screaming and behaving so badly we had to ask her to leave. This lady is no shrinking violet and her suggestion about feeling intimidated is nonsense. We threatened to call the police on her and had to keep asking her to stop screaming and shouting.

After lunging over our reception desk to snatch her keys she left sending paperwork flying everywhere. Mistakenly another customer picked up her service book in error and returned it when she realised, it was then returned to the rightful owner.

It's disappointing that somebody thinks it is acceptable to behave so badly because they are a customer, causing upset not just for our staff but also other visitors.

The entire incident was filmed on our CCTV system which corroborates our explanation of the events caused by this badly behaved person, whom we do not wish to return.

As A Female Driver I Find Going To A Garage Partic

As a female driver I find going to a garage particularly daunting. I'm not stupid - but I find some places really patronise & take advantage of us girls!

One of my friends recommended GO and all I can say is WOW!

They have a lovely lady on their reception who was really helpful. The reception is clean and bright - it was more like going into an smart dentist than a garage! My MOT was conducted while I waited and I was offered FRESHLY BREWED COFFEE! and it was free! Served in a cup with a saucer and a biscuit too! (not some nasty plastic cup - call me fussy!) So with my coffee in one hand, Elle magazine in the other (from the neat & tidy rack of other up-to-date mags us girls love!) I waited for my car to be finished.

I don't know why but I always expect the worst! Not in this case, all done, passed and the charge was just £39.

I cannot praise this place highly enough and will use them again for my service when it's due.
