I Have Recently Had The Wheels On My Saab "refurbe

I have recently had the wheels on my Saab "refurbed" by BB Alloys & Classic Wheels and it's been a complete disaster.

Firstly the finish on one wheel was so poor (paint & lacquer missed, silver spots in the anthracite) that he agreed to come back and refinish it. Then the next day two tyres went flat. As I needed to use the car and he couldn't come back until later in the week he asked me to get it repaired locally and he'd refund me when he returned Thurs/Friday to fix the poor paintwork.

Turned out the two flats were caused by some corrosion in the rims that he hadn't attended to. In fixing this the garage scratched some of the new paint, which they described as "tissue paper thin". I wasn't worried as he was due back in a couple of days to fix the paint and reimburse the £24 tyre garage bill.

Except I've never seen or heard from him again - doesn't answer his phone or respond to emails, but his promises of rework and reimbursement by text are saved on my phone.

And he's not cheap.Right now it's cost me £224, plus the costs of rectifying the damage to the two wheels that had to be resealed - £30 ea if the bodyshop guy next door does it.

Looking at the two non-damaged wheels, there's bubbles in the lacquer coat and you can see alloy peeping through on the back edges of some spokes.

Paint is already flaking off in large chunks 4 months on. I had them inslected by a car paint firm tech rep,and he says there's no undercoat at all, so the colour coat is bound to fall off quickly.

The matter is now with West Mids Trading Standards.

I've plenty of photo's of all the problems if any one's interested.

And he's not cheap. He charged £200, which included the fitting of two new tyres I supplied (say £10 ea). So £45 a corner - well over the odds. So right now it's cost me £224, plus the costs of rectifying the damage to the two wheels that had to be resealed - £30 ea if the bodyshop guy next door does it.

Looking at the two non-damaged wheels, I can't see them lasting long - there's bubbles in the lacquer coat and you can see alloy peeping through on the back edges of some spokes. I've plenty of photo's of all the problems if any one's interested.

I'm retired and can't afford to waste this sort of money. I think we'll end up in the small claims court at this rate. So use him at your peril.
