I wonder if it has anything to do with oil company profits?

Either way it needs to be developed and sponsored much more. The so-called bio-diesel you can now obtain from some filling stations is only 5% bio!

yes, you are probably correct. i use veg. oil in my car diluted by diesel down to 30%.

i did however use it in a old ford van, but that only had a couple of years life left in it so it would have been no great loss!

i am surpised that the government havent looked into this(!). jeremy clarkson did mention it recently on the radio, so perhaps someone will come up with an additive to make it 100% safe!

The only problem with using this kind of fuel is that it needs to be "adjusted" or refined to be used in todays modern diesel engines. If not then long term usage can cause expensive harm to your engine. You need to at least reduce the viscosity by heating the oil, or go through a refining process adding methanol and laundry lye would you believe! Either way, do some research on the internet or other places to find out about this BEFORE you use it or you could lose out big style. Rudolph Diesel may have designed his engine to run on vegetable oil originally but it has not been developed that way! I have, as a teacher of automotive technology found this out as a result of my own research, so please be careful!
