I Got A Breakdown Cover With Tick Direct In Septem

I got a breakdown cover with Tick Direct in September 2009. The company went into administration and therefore I basically lost my policy. I was unaware of this fact so if something had happend I would have not been covered. The company did not bother in letting me know that. When I call them they just basically said "you haven't paid anything to us but to the company we took over"...THey washed their hands

I use to work at Tick Direct. All Customers policies were transferred to a company called One Answer Insurance based in Hailsham. If you have paid for the policy and can proof this payment then the underwriters (Europ Assistance) have to honor your contract.

I apologise, unfortunately all the staff were called in one day and told they were out of jobs and werent getting paid.

We hold two breakdown cover policies with Tick Direct and today I was trying to change vehicle details on one of the policies and found all the listed telephone numbers are defunct, there is no website address and there has never been any notices sent by Tick to its policy holders. The policy was underwritten by Europ Assistance according to my policy document but they said they were diverting my call to the 'brokers' it was eventually answered by the actual Europ breakdown service who were not interested in the policy only if we had broken down!!

As it stands if we had of broken down then our vehicle would not have been covered!!

what is going on with this insurance industry and to that matter the Financial Services Authority, I thought they now had teeth!!!

How can the compare web sites advertise such companies if they have not fully checked them out for financial stability.

Why is it always the consumer that has to suffer the consequences???
