The Abi Award Transtar Is A Very Good Static Over
The Abi Award Transtar is a very good static over all, just the windows let it down.

My Wife And I "retired" From Caravanning In 1986,
My wife and I "retired" from caravanning in 1986, when our children had grown up and we didn't have the time due to pressures of our business. Twenty years later, on the verge of real "retirement", we decided to give caravanning another go. We decided to buy an inexpensive 'van to see if we enjoyed touring again, and if we did, then trade it in to a dealer for a new one.
The Transtar Prestige that we bought, vintage 1992, cost us less than £3,000.00. Being a mechanical engineer I was quite happy that it was in very good condition, and, apart from having replaced the water heater and carpets, have had to spend nothing on it.
The 'van had been very carefully looked after by only two previous owners, and now having made 6 trips to France, Germany and Italy with it (+ a few in England), we have decided against spending some many thousands of pounds on a new/nearly new 'van because, having looked at everything available, frankly, there is nothing that can give us more than we have with the Transtar.
It still has a modern shape, and the quality that ABI built into this range is more than evident, e.g., the original upholstery is genuinely as good as new, and everything in it, fitted as original equipment, works perfectly.
I found this review very helpful because...once again it is an honest appraisal of a modern looking van even though they might be close (or over) 20 years old. Only time will tell once I collect it and try it out which I will do before too long.

We Bought This Abi Award Transtar Mk Iv Caravan 9
We bought this ABI Award Transtar Mk IV caravan 9 months ago and have so far spent a total of 10 weeks on holidays in it. It has proved to be absolutely perfect for 2. For a caravan of it's age it has everything that the new ones have - only laid out better. It was bought as a trial to see if we enjoyed caravaning and after a year, if we found we did, we intended to buy a new model. Having seen all the new models and many of a year or 2 old, we have decided we prefer this old beauty which looks extremely modern and as fresh as the day it was made.
I found this review very helpful because...I am intending to buy an older model and I have afound a Transtar of this year. Many thanks for the honesty in the write-up.
Hi. I agree totally! Does anyone know where I can get a manual for this model?
Totally know where you are coming from. Have a 1989 Transtar and love it to bits, it really does have EVERYTHING the new vans have, except for blown air heating, which we can all live without. If I ever replace this caravan, it'll only be for a newer Transtar, which I think they made up until 1996.
