Graduating Up From A Suzuki Samurai (!) The Range
Graduating up from a Suzuki Samurai (!) the Range Rover 2004 is awesome - to look at. However, living in a hot dry sandy country most of our driving is off road (who said Range Rover owners hardly ever take them off road?). In soft sand it got bogged once and with the sea crashing in 10 yards behind - it took 10 people 2 hours to dig it out. Now we are more careful. We have the 3ltr diesel and it could be that it is underpowered... this feeling is reinforced when we see Toyotas, Mitubishi's and of course the super Samurai's zinging over the sand. Personally I would hesitate to go where a Samurai can go - it's too heavy and too risky if you get stuck.
Another minus is the battery... there is only one and the other day we left the music on. 1 hour later the car was a useless piece of metal.
Apart from this it looks great in the driveway and outside the shops!
I have just bought a used Range Rover 4.6HSE Ltd. Edition- it cost over £50,000 in 1997 and I just paid less than a tenth of that. Amount of metal for the money cannot be beaten. Practical? - probably, comfortable? - absolutely, a gas guzzler? - no doubt. But oh so desirable. Luxury first class for the price of a used and undistinguished Mondeo.
Does look good, maybe a bit underpowered and heavy for the sand but one of the best SUVs ever built.
