I Love My Caliber And It Is Very Nice To Drive, I
I love my Caliber and it is very nice to drive, I have the Caliber SXT CVT model..it has the 2L world engine..built by mitsubish-hyundai and Chrysler..it is based on the Misubish lancer platform but shares a lot of it's build with the Jeep Patriot/Compass.. it has, however surprised me with a few problems which are totally unique to this Caliber, as my previous one didnt have any problems at all..I am on my second Caliber(58)plate.. have had this one for just over a year..I've had the most ridiculous set of problems and still ongoing..I noticed that after the first week the dashboard area above the radio was vibrating badly, this happened after the engine was started and it gradually would stop after a few minutes..so I decided to take it to my local dealer..luckly the car still had 2+ years of warranty left..so after some while the guy came back and told me that the ENGINE MOUNTS were worn..this car was just under a year old, with 6000 miles on the clock.I was SHOCKED!!! so I asked him WHY this had happenend,he told me it was a manufacturing fault, they had only ever seen this twice before..so in went my car for 3 days whilst they fixed this..and after they had half the engine apart to fix it..I had it returned and it is now like a new car..it feels much better to drive...any way so far so good, three weeks later I noticed another problem,a niggling one and that was that every time I filled up with petrol, the fuel light would not go out...so back to the dealers and they flashed the ECU..now that is fixed, no problems...now last week I'm driving along and the volume controls on the steering wheel just stop responding...so I turn the steering wheel and this turns the volume on its own..strange!!!! so the car is due back in next week..I also have problems with the engine turning over..this has been reported to the garage and they could not find any problems, but it is still doing it...so next week I think I'm going to insist that they keep my Caliber and make sure it dosnt come back to me untill it is fixed..THANK GOD IT IS UNDER WARRANTY...although I have thses problems I would not change it..I just htink I'm unlucky...having owned several DCJ models this is the ONLY one that has problems...

Bought The Dodge Caliber Sport Because I Wanted Th
Bought the Dodge Caliber sport because I wanted the benefits of a 4 wheel drive without the equipment weight. However, not returning great mileage on an auto - about 27mpg. Had it in for warranty front end work twice in 6 months and something still rattles. Love the car tho - looks good, big and spacious. Cracking pimp-my-ride stereo!

Hired One In France And Drove 1,500 Miles. Wanted
Hired one in France and drove 1,500 miles. Wanted to like it as its fun to look at and goes well, however there are plenty of niggles. I'm 6ft tall, and even with the seat down as far as possible and back some way, the door controls are badly sited, the plastics are low-rent, the dashboard looks cheap, and the inside seemed barely bigger than my 10 year old Fiat Punto. A strain to drive with wandery steering (checked the tyre pressures and its only done 10,000 miles). I can reverse trailers and caravans but not this as the rear vision is so poor. The 'A' pillars are thick enough to create blind spots on angle junctions. There is no lumbar support and the seat base is hard, so I had backache and a numb bum after 1 hours drive. The windscreen is so far away that fitting a satnav with a suction mount is very hard once seated. Sadly, was relieved to hand it back. Lots of people looked at it though and its cheap, so perhaps one to buy if you want impress the neighbours?

I Had 1 For 11 Days Out Of 6 Months And Only Cover
I had 1 for 11 days out of 6 months and only covered 400 miles due to the wiring in the dash finally got it replaced and still more problems with reliability, had the brake discs and pads changed twice and only done 27000 miles, so not very reliable at all in my opinion.
When it is running ok it is a great car real head turner as not many around were I live.
