Firsty I Picked Up A £500 Rover 214 As A Run

Firsty i picked up a £500 rover 214 as a run about while i was fixing my other car. After 6 months and putting close to 20k on it the only thing that went wrong was a drive shaft which i had caused myself....so with a car this reliable why not get another rover...

I found a VVC coupe in the back of a car garage and the dealer didnt seem like he wanted to keep it so i bought it. £1200 got me a 1998, 70k, FSH, every single recpit from new, immaculate condition rover. What a deal ey!

To say i am pleased is an understatement, I have had the car 9 months now and the only thing to have gone wrong both door handles snapped(very fustrating having to climb through the boot)but a DIY fix later and ive saved £160 for the cost of 2 new handles.

The engine is amazing, chasing the redline everytime you accelerate right up to the limiter there is no lack of power whatsoever. The VVC coupe is a very under rated car, badge snoobs look at it and dismiss it. Over cross-country the car can make you feel like your a pro driver, feedback from the wheel is good, you can take the car to the limits without every putting yourself at risk. Tourqe is low and you have to work the gearbox to make pace... but thats the fun of the car, when the VVC kicks in the engine roars and your surge forward with a grin from ear to ear!

Back seat space in very limited with anyone over 5ft 10 having to snuggle down to avoid a bent neck. Boot space is very good, its shallow but can swallow alot more than you think.

Overall this car is cheap cheerful and makes an great buy for someone who values driving and enjoys it.

If your thinking of buying one make sure you dont jump in because a abused one will set you back alot of money if things start to go wrong. Find a cared for example and you wont regret it!

This Rover L.s 200 Coupeis A Working Class Hero,

This Rover L.S 200 Coupeis a working class hero, it offers up superb perfomance even in it's small 1.6 16v unit which can embarrass much bigger engined cars.

The handling was good although in early models especially the turbo even with a torsen slip-diff it was a handfull with it's aggressive torque steer, but that's expected of a car of this nature.

If you are looking to purchase one theses coupes as i've owned a few myself i highly recommend it as they offer trouble free motoring and a trully wonderful coupe for the weekend. VVC is pick of the bunch, all the performance without the drawbacks.

I Think Personally The Vvc Engine Is Probably One

I think personally the vvc engine is probably one of the best engines around. Also I think the Tomcat is the best car Rover ever made.

I am on my sixth Tomcat now I have had a turbo jap spec three 1600 k series one Honda and my current R reg vvc.

I have owned six coupes now. A turbo {jap spec} a 1600 Honda 3 1600 K series and a 1800 vvc. They have all been fantastic cars. They have all been reliable apart from a couple of head gaskets.

I Have Owned Two Rover Coupes Now In The Space Of

I have owned two Rover Coupes now in the space of 2 yrs my first was a 1600 coupe and my second and present coupe is a vvc (Variable Valve Control). Basically an EMS computer sends data to the extra large camshaft enabling it to stay open longer allowing the car to accelerate extremely fast in no time these engines are unbelievably quick!

These cars look great and will certainly be a future classic! The removable glass roof is fun and when removed can be housed in the boot in designated bags for safe storage! My car has half leather Recaro seats front and rear with climate control.
