Bought My 2.5l 24v Cougar With 1000 Miles On The C
Bought my 2.5l 24V Cougar with 1000 miles on the clock, just clicked over to 180,000. Incredible car, incredible value. Love the way it drives and handles - it sits so solidly on the road and has a good bit of power. Had a few things replaced of course - clutch, rad, water pump in the last year - but it goes on and on, and the engine's still really sweet. Don't hestitate to buy one, even at high mileage, it's more reliable than it has the right to be. It can't go on forever, but when you can get one at under £2000 with less than 100K on the clock, I can't see anything that's better value.

I've Had Mine For Over A Year , 2.5 24v With X-pac
I've had mine for over a year , 2.5 24V with X-pack and to be I honest wouldn't trade her, even though the cost of repair has started to rise. As with all cars, after so many years, you have to decide whether to run for a while and chop in, or, as in this case, keep her running and pay for the expense. A car nearing and then bettering 100,000 miles will need or have to have had major works, BUT, there are very few designs that transcend time; ie, I liked the original Scirocco, especially in VR6 form, don't really like the new one, looks like Shrek sat on on its Golf platform roof, I also like the old Audi Coupe, both look good now, whereas so many designs look poor. The Cougar is a Mondeo in a party frock, but who ever designed that frock was a top bloke (or lady), it is one of those shapes that will last. So when I was faced with an ABS pump replacement (new) of over £1,600 + VAT to be replaced - so be aware - as said earlier, it all adds up, I decided I still wouldn't trade her in. Also, the bucket seats in the rear are awesome, and the boot, on the first time of seeing it is nothing less than bloody huge!!!

My Old Man Has Got A Ford Cougar 24v X And Really
My old man has got a Ford Cougar 24v X and really impresses me. I've got a BMW 325 and it keeps up no probs until you get onto B roads. Good points are performance and economy, cheap to buy, insure. Quite unique. good reliability.
Great value for anyone who wants a bit more oomph than standard saloons.
Saw a modded Cougar in London the otherday with gold paint job and rear wing - looked absolutely amazing and I had no idea what it was until I saw the 24v 3.0 badge - like a Japanese rocketship.

Excellent choice if you are looking for a cheap (ish) sports coupe with very good power.
Good points far outweigh the limited bad points and I would recommend this car.
Might want to opt for the X-pack if you can afford it, to have extras such as leather interior and a CD Autochanger.

The Ford Cougar 24v X Is For You If You Want A Car
The Ford Cougar 24v X is for you if you want a car that is sporty, fast good looking, practical, individual and not common as muck but manufactured by a mass producer this car ticks all the boxes. I believe this car will achieve a modern classic status in the next few years. I just love this package, though there are some minor shortcomings they should be judged no worse than other sports cars as they also experience these shortcomings and in many cases much more. The truth is if you want five doors with space in the back to seat 7 footers and a fuel economy at 45 MPG this is not the car for you.
The Cougar is extremely good value for money so don't be a follower and buy a beemer(Yawn). Dare to be different, more people will be admiring your car than one of those.

If you want a fast car that looks great, then the Cougar is for you.
If you don't want to waste money in petrol, the Cougar is not for you. The insurance is quite expensive too.

Unique and stylish design (lights, Fords 'edge design'), well thought out cruiser, the Ford Cougar is too big and heavy to be a true sports car - but that's not a criticsm. Comfortable for long journeys without suffering bodily failure (cramp, deep vein thrombosis) and you can hear yourself talk, even at 115mph (sorry officer). For a 2.5 V6, the fuel consumption is exceptional - 35mpg at 80 mph. Insurance costs arnt too terrible and the initial cost of the car is very reasonable (I have one of the last ones and only paid £5.5 K for a one owner fully stamped example). Best in dark colours

The Ford Cougar 24v X sports car is an excellent car for the money - Mileage per gallon, good looks - real head turner, and top end performance (like being in a lightning jet) There has been some fed up boy racers in their fiestas and citroens they have been left standing at the lights! Speck of dust in the rear view mirror springs to mind ha ha.

Ford Cougar 24v X Sports Car Review When Deci
Ford Cougar 24v X Sports Car Review
When deciding which car to buy the first thing that I had in mind was power and looks. When faced with my budget I was dissapointed because although I could afford a supra or a skyline there would be 10 to 15 years old with endless miles on the clock. So I thought to add some water to my wine and go for something newer but less powerfull but by no means uglier. So thats how the cat came to me. Since then I had enjoyed it to the max. From street racing to cruising around Europe to accomodating my family of four. Each and every occasion the cougar made me grin. Big engine, lots of torgue and power, a beatifull roar after 4000rpm lots of space in the cabin and in the boot. Very good handling and cornering for it size, not so expensive to maintain. Very easy power gains due to its big cc engine plus for exsessive power the jaguar supercharger can be used since it fits on perfectly.
