I Was Given This Audi 80 2.0 Sport Se Two Years Ag
I was given this Audi 80 2.0 Sport SE two years ago by a friend. It obviously wasn't brand new anymore, having a few scratches and the alloys looked a tatty. BUT the main part, the engine and everything else mechanical was still in great shape. Over the past 2 years I have (apart from MOT and service minorities) only had to get the exhaust repaired and get the brushes replaced. Which really is just wear and tear. I was unlucky with a few punchers and the tyres cost me quite a lot, although I now found a place that does them a bit cheaper. It is one of those cases where going to a local garage might really pays out over going to places like Kwikfit and other big tyre places.
It is a great drive still. It is spacious, comfortable and accelerates nicely. The tests done while it has been serviced show the engine is still in very good shape. The fuel consumption can be kept down by keeping the revs low and it is always nice to do have that 2.0 litre power available! It is a beauty in second gear! It is very quiet still, even after 13 years and even on the motorway it is very nice and quiet.
The Audi 80 might now be an 'old timer' and its looks might me slightly dated (and don't get me wrong ... I'd love a new A3 or A4) but it remains an Audi, which means: durability, quality and good driving experience.
So if you are looking for quality, some a bit bigger but your wallet is slightly smaller then the Audi 80 might just do for you. On average you can pick them up for about £1000 and the drive you get is great for that price. Mine's done over 110.000 miles and I really wouldn't be surprised if it does another 40.000!
