Absolute Nightmare
I have just recently bought my Vauxhall zafira 1.9 cdti diesel just under 5 months from a used car dealer. mileage was 63650. very clean, sporty look, handled very well, very fast for a seven seater. must I say it came with a 12 months gold rac warranty, so overall sale and package quite decent. but it been a absolute torrid of a time. 1st month the egr went. under warranty paid to get fix from main dealer £1870. after getting the car back, two week later the water pump, cam and belts all needed replacing. that was another £400 plus. just fount out today that mass plate/clutch needs doing after I kept hearing a knocking noise since I purschase it. not cover under warranty.£912 to get fix from garage. you will always get some that have no problem with there car, but those likemyself suffering with problem after problems. stay well clear from zafira.i would never purchase another one again. "be warned2

Power Steering Pumps
I would like to post this as awarning to any owner or potential owner of a late model Vauxhall Zafira, or any other late model Vauxhall car that uses the electric driven power steering pump. This component can begin to fail at very low mileages, if you notice a whining noise that is not engine speed related and can be altered by operating the steering, then you may be in the early stages of this components failure. Best advice is get rid quickly. you will get no help from Vauxhall, and the main dealer price for replacing this pump is £1000. ridiculous for an electric oil pump, but then this is Vauxhall, be warned
Snap, I have a the same problem although the Vauxhall dealer that has my car wants £1,500!!! Our Zafira is a 57 plate 2.2 design model with only 31,000 miles on the clock we have had this car only 6 months!!!
I would expect the price for this pump to be the money it is if it was a BMW or something, but its a poxy Vauxhall!!! Will never buy Vauxhall again!!! so disapointed.

Useless. Owned The Car From New 06 Plate, Full Ser
Useless. owned the car from new 06 plate, full service history and is kept immaculate. Both sets of wires to the rear doors have snapped due to the doors opening and closing?, vauxhall cutting costs and leaving the wires too short for the purpose they are meant for. No central locking, windows wont work and no audio to the rear speakers.
Two egr valves in 2 years at £250 each.constant power problems.
Alternator has now failed at 39000 miles.
so now i have a shiny good looking car that doesnt work......bargain!!!!!!

My Second Zafira, The First Was A 2l Dti Elegance
My second Zafira, the first was a 2l dti elegance did 62000 and NOTHING went wrong! This one a Design 150 cdti, I bought from new, it's now done 4000 mls far superior performance & handling than the old model. Push it and you will get in the high 30s drive for economy watching the trip computer & I recently got 55mpg over a 205 mile journey. A fantastic car.

In Some Respects The Vauxhall Zafira 150 Is An Imp
In some respects the Vauxhall Zafira 150 is an improvement on the Mk1, but if you regularly drive any distances I would recomend that you avoid the Design / SRi models running on the 17" 225 tyres.
I found this review helpful because...I own a Zafira with exactly the same problem and know it's true. Well done for bringing it to public notice.
