Nissan Knows What We Want

Tino 2.2td does what it has to do! great family car! on a long run 43-45mpg easily at 65-70mph.

easy to service. no cambelt to do! lots of storage space. in two Years time done only several oil and filter changes and tyres... normal wear and tear! even with over 166k on clock this is the most reliable car a have owned! and not considering to replace!

Oh Dear Oh Dear

It was cheap to buy and the engine was eager, although unresponsive when dropping from 6th to 5th, better to drop down to 4th. Lots of torque steer, and worn front tyres (1500 miles life not helped by towing a 950kgs gross caravan) and rolly poly handling as you'd expect so no complaints.

However, the first involuntary stop was caused by a broken earth lead from battery to chassis. £92 for a jumped up jump lead. My first service after purchase was £800, the excess mainly due to vain attempts to clear faults in the CPU/electronics by the main dealer. Second, rusted through radiator bottom hose jubilee clip caused the lose of all coolant straight after this service. I couldn't see the point of the main dealer any more.

Not finished yet, the oil cooler between the filter and block, split with water and oil mixing. No part in stock anywhere. Had to get 2nd hand one from ebay. What a way to run a business.

With the display panel temporarily clear of bogus faults a kind Honda dealer gave me £2000 for it,in Part ex, even though I told him it was a heap of... Nissan Almera Tino 2.2Dci SE

On Buying My Nissan Tino 2.2 Dci Se At 3 Years Old

On buying my Nissan Tino 2.2 DCI SE at 3 years old with a full service history I was happy & still am.

There are a few poor points that can be improved but as Nissan have stopped production of the Tino & replaced it with the Nissan Note this will not happen.

The car will do 40 - 44 mpg & on a full tank of diesel (£55) will return me around 550 - 600 miles.

I have had no major problems with this car in fact in the 18 months I have had it (19000 miles) I have only had to change the front & rear wiper blades.

The head room in the cabin is very ample & the seating position gives you a all round clear view.

Passenger foot well is deep so the seat can be set in a more forward position to give passengers in the rear more space.

Gear change is quick & close. Steering responsive but you do get body roll taking sharp corners. Heating & air-co are average with front window screen de-icing in freezing weather taking a long time.

Rear seats comfortable & can individually shift backwards or forwards but removal is a bit tricky.

There is ample storage space around the car under & behind the front seats with a few hidden around the car. Boot space average with rear wheel arches restricting larger items but has given me no problem taking a family of five on holiday for a fortnight.

Rear windows don't go deep enough into the door frame when closed which can be left open by younger children without you knowing.

The engine is powerful & can pick up speed to overtake fully loaded & will do 70 mph in 4th gear at 3000 rpm.

The engine though powerful is very noisy compared to other diesel engines & could have done with more cladding between the cabin & engine.

This is a very reliable car which has given me no problems at all.

I know of two other people who have the Nissan Tino who have also had no problems with theirs.
