Cracking Mpv

I had a right nightmare trying to find a good towing car for my tourer, well to fit with my long wish list. I wanted the sliding doors, 7 seats, privacy blinds, tables for the kids, good towing weight and 2.2 engine.

I didn't want to spend much but I found the C8 which I never even counted on until I test drove one. I bought a 2.2 without knowing it cuz it was advertised as a 2 litre and found out later when I came to insure it!

Anyway it pulls like a storm, it's comfortable, I can load it up to the rafters and the suspension hardly moves (not that I do this all the time).

Plus I think it looks a lot easier on the eye than others on offer.

Yes the doors do have a mind of their own sometimes, the radio has CD mishap and the front seats side pads are squidgy but somehow are still supportive?? But I didn't pay a lot for it in the first place.

On the hole I am really pleased with it and I'm glad I chose the C8.

Factory Fitted Satnav

Hi, I have had my c8 for 5yrs now and cannot find another to beat its reliability and performance. I did have a new cam belt & clutch fitted but that has only been the most i have spent on it £1004 but well worth it after it was done. But just lately i have a leak when it rains coming in from one of the sun roofs, and being there are 3 in the exclusive i cannot find where it is coming from . I also need to update my satnav but don't no where to buy a new disc from . I have tried all Citroen dealers but they cannot help me .Be very grateful for any help with these problems .But otherwise i would advise anyone to buy a Citroen c8 and easily go to bed at night without worrying about me giving bad advise.

I have owned this car from new. For me it's very comfortable and stylish car than mpv car. It's true that the car have many problem like antipollution fault but in fact it's some kind of very sensitive sensors. I had got this problem too but i can fixed it by just clean car engine. This car have made about 10 years ago but i think it have modern system that some car in this year didn't have such as onboard computer ,door sensor. Unfortunatelly this model have been stop making for now

Maybe I Have Been Lucky - I Find My C8 (living In

Maybe I have been lucky - I find my C8 (living in Denmark) very reliable. It has run more than 250.000 km by now without any major problems. But ofcourse some lamps and funny reactions on the electrical side can occur. Right now, I have one request: I have build-in board computer with the 7-8 inch screen in the middle. The screen is black most of the time, but on rare occasions it turns on - so the computer is basically OK, only the screen is somehow faulty. It seems to have something to do with temperature? Any comments on that? - e.g. where to find a spare screen. Please write me on [email protected]. Thanks

Citroen C8 04 This C8 Has Been The Wors

Citroen C8 04

This C8 has been the worst car I have ever owned.

Cam belt snapped at 90,000 miles when it was not due for replacement untill 100k.

Depolution system warning light comes on and car limps home at 10 miles an hour. Citroen main dealer told us it needed a new depolution system so they fitted one £1200 and no difference, then they decided it was a fault with the turbo - yes we replaced that on there say so - no difference, they replaced various bits at costs I wish to forget.

This car has not run properly for over a year despite main dealer attention and nearly £7000 spent.

All common problems I am now finding out. DO NOT BUY ONE THEY ARE S**t

I agree... I have a peugeot 807 (basically the same car) and I too think its the worst car I have ever owned. Don't worry you are not alone just check out the forums! I have had particulate filter failure, turbo failure, egr valve failure, fly by wire failure... The car has only done 80K with full main dealer service history. The HDI engine is shocking. I am currently 2,500 - 3,000 in repair bills in the last 6 months. Such a shame as Citroen/Peugeot used to have such a good reputation for quality diesels. All thrown away with this shocking example of poor quality design and engineering. You don't have a one off, they are all like this.

It seems that your problem originates with the dealer and not the car. If they had made the proper diagnosis, the problem would be solved at once at relatively minor costs. Isn't there a kind of customer organisation who you can turn to to help you?

Removing The Rear Heavy Seats Is Extremely Fraustr

removing the rear heavy seats is extremely fraustrating and ends with something breaking off them. Too much plastic LOads of carrying space but the time spent in arranging the seats to get the space is very long.

I Had Had My C8 Since New, Bought It Because Had T

I had had my C8 since new, bought it because had two babies and the electric doors were ideal. I don't think there has been six months that have gone by where the car has not been in the garage being fixed. It has had a new particular filter, four volume mass meters and recently we have had the anti pollution light on and no one can fix it. It has gone into Citroen twice and as I turned the engine on to pick it up the same problem has occurred. The temperature outside keeps going down to minus twenty eight which affects the air conditioning which then affects the running of the car. It jerks when you drive it and it doesn't want to move anywhere. The after sales is awful at Citroen and they keep trying to sell you parts for the car that you just don't need. I would never recommend this car and if I had my time again I would stay well clear. I have now got Citroen Head Office involved as the Citroen dealer just don't seem to be doing anything and have not fixed the problem.

The Citroen C8 Is A Practical And Stylish Mpv Let

The Citroen C8 is a practical and stylish MPV let down by poor engineering, an overcomplicated design and rubbish after-sales service. I've owned mine for 6 years. Don't buy one. Ever. Unless you want to pootle around with no power, limited to 3000 rpm because of the famous anti-pollution fault. This randomly comes on and puts the engine in limp home mode, whenever it decides to, usually just as you set off on a long journey. The dealer will sell you a change of particle filter for £750 as a solution. You don't need one and it won't help. I've been to 3 main dealers and 2 independent specialists with this fault over the last 60,000 miles and no-one can solve it.

After 3 years the chrome paint peels off the door handles. The washer system leaks. The front suspension is dodgy and the springs break without warning. The tyres wear faster than a dragsters. The headlight bulbs blow every few months and are a pig to change.

I got a great deal when I bought this car with £3000 cashback in 2004. Now I know why. Citroen, you are letting yourselves down with this car and damaging your reputation. I used to trust your brand. No more.

Honestly with hindsight, I would rather have had a vasectomy in 2004 than bought this car.

I have to agree with this review. We bought ours in 2005 at 2 years old and it has been nothing but problems - some of which are covered above. Unfortunately what isn't mentioned is the grand-daddy of all C8 problems (on the 2.0l anyway), the premature cambelt failure (at about half it's replacement interval) leaving you with a bill of between £3000 and £4000. I type this with dirty oily hands as I have just replaced the fan belt, but after removing the front o/s wheel I discovered that the coil spring is broken on that side. Just glad I found this out with the car stationary as I've read reports of them going and punching right through the front tyres (not good at 60mph)!!
