Peugeot 205 xs 1.4

What can I say about the 205 xs? Underrated? Wolf in sheep's clothing? These are remarkable cars for a 1.4l engine! Mine was the slightly faster duel carb version if I remember correctly in red (I owned two, one E reg and another G reg). Every now and again I see them appear in the local ad's and nobody seems to realise the potential of these little pocket rockets! I had my first one when I was 17 years old (30 now) and even back then insurance was cheap! If you can find one of these in good condition and are looking for a fast first car, or just a nippy runaround you wont be disappointed. They are a little noisy inside like any other older French car of the same year but the induction and rasp from the standard sporty exhaust makes you forget about those little niggles! Its basically the same as the 205 Rally but much cheaper and easier to get your hands on. I would take one over the 1.6 GTI anyday.
