I Have Only Had The Car For 3 Weeks But You Could

I have only had the car for 3 weeks but you could not fail to be impressed by every aspect of this car.

There is no other car in the medium range market with this level of kit or build quality. For some people the badge is still an issue. Forget this, anyone getting a new Skoda is getting a much better car than any of the competition. I have just returned from Inverness and on a 700 mile round trip it returned 51 mpg, and this is a big car. Best car I have ever had. My last car was a Mazda 6 TS, which itself was a very good car but the Skoda is in a different league.

My Skoda Superb Is Used As A Taxi And I'm Averagin

My Skoda Superb is used as a taxi and I'm averaging around 6,000 miles a month.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this vehicle.

With its smooth ride and interior space and, in my case, automatic gearbox it makes for a very comfortable and relaxing drive.

I had very specific requirements (turbodiesel with autobox, space) but wasn't expecting a modern car to have so much character, not readily apparent from the test drive.

The quality if the interior is very good with some sharp design features.

The look and feel of the materials used gives an impression of solidity and is rattle and squeak free.

The engine(1.9td)is more than up to the task and will easily take it to speeds well over the national speed limit.

With serious right foot abuse the fuel economy is a little disappointing at 27-30mpg but as motorway speeds I regularly see 40-45mpg.

Further to the Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi Comfort review. It's now done 48,000 miles. I have just had the auto box replaced under warranty. Also, both front wheel bearings and front CV boots had to be replaced.

The passenger rear door lock is sticking, possibly due to the constant abuse it gets from overenthusiastic closing, the doors being huge.

The franchise dealer has an air of disinterest when I make a visit, but the Skoda helpline is second-to-none for courtesy and helpfulness, and they made us feel really special.

My original evaluation still stands.

If it can put up to the abuse us cabby's throw at it, then the average driver will have no trouble.

I Bought The Skoda Superb 1.9 Tdi Comfort In July

I bought the Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi Comfort in July 2005, pre-registered with delivery miles. The price was two thirds of new and I just could not resist it, especially when the garage threw in a three year service plan as part of the deal.

I find the Superb fine in all situations. It parks easily, partly due to the sensors and partly to light power steering which combine to make it easy . It is probably at its best on the motorway or heading up the A9 with the cruise control set. That kind of driving is done at a little under 50mpg which is good for a big car like the Superb. When I want it to it has very good acceleration and once warmed up it is very quiet.

I did wonder how the Superb would be from a practical viewpoint but it is in fact very good. The boot is huge and there are hooks to hang the shopping from which is a very practical touch. The car is easy to keep clean as it came with tailored mats and mudflaps.

Generally I have to say I have never owned quite such a good car. It has all the pluses of a big prestige model and seems to be better put together than any of them. They do say that Skodas are well built because they are built by Czechs in the Czech Republic with national pride. Certainly my experience so far has borne out the excellent reputation these cars have earned.

I thought that as it was almost a year since I submitted my Skoda Superb review, I should perhaps update it.

The Superb has now covered 20000 miles. I still have no regrets, and it is still the best car I have owned. I moved house recently, and I now commute up and down the A9 on a weekly basis, leaving home early on Monday morning and returning late on Thursday. Once north of Perth I can set the cruise control and relax, especially as the road is very quiet at this time of year, out of the tourist season. The car is returning a steady 50mpg, measured by fuel used and miles covered, not the computer, which is rather optimistic. On a return trip to London recently, the Superb returned 54mpg, which is pretty good for a big car like this.

Anyone considering buying a Superb should be confident they are buying a quality set of wheels!

Skoda Superb 1.9 Tdi Comfort Family Car Review

Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi Comfort Family Car ReviewBuild quality, performance, economy, sound system are all `Superb`

The most satisfying thing is having passengers who have never been in a `new era` Skoda and listening to them spouting complimentary remarks as you drive along. If I had a quid for every time I have heard `These have improved a bit!` or `I new they had improved but I didn`t relise they were this good!` I could have a good night out on the ale.

The road tests and reviews speak for themselves.

People who would not buy one would be the type of people who would only wear clothes with a designer label. Personally I would rather save a few quid to enjoy a nice holiday as well.

It's very handy on a trip to Ikea or such like when there are things that are too long for the boot.

the issue with the rear seats has been resolved on the later models, although i haven't had the need to fold them as yet.

lewist

Interestingly the rear seats in my Superb do fold. This makes it more practical.

Performance Of The Skoda Superb 1.9 Tdi Comfort Is

Performance of the Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi Comfort is excellent - 130bhp.

Biggest interior in a saloon around by miles.

VW quality, Czech price.

Handling like the Passat, not as good as a Mondeo but better than cars of 10 years ago.

Diesel engine rattles a bit on start up.

Engine needs revving on pull away otherwise it can stall.

Economy phenomenal - 45mpg for fast motorway driving.

Low emissions.

It's interesting how the German built VAG cars are supposed to have the quality but in the JD Power survey the Skoda comes out just behing Lexus at the top and VWs (for example) are way down, with one or two being poor for satisfaction. The Skoda of course is built in the Czech Republic by Czechs, with pride in a job well done.

I have a Skoda Superb 130bhp diesel. It is comfortable and goes like a lamb or occasionally like a rocket when I want it to. It has a great stereo and it drives like a dream at about 45mpg. What a pity VAG didn't take over Rootes group. We might have been building cars like this in Scotland if they had.
