Rover 618iL

I bought the Rover 618 new just before Rover went bump. I fell in love with the style and the luxurious comfort of the car. The engine was powerful and cruised along with little effort. I believe the engine was actually made by Honda which would explain the reliability. The clutch was light and the gear change was smooth.

It did seem a bit heavy on front tyres which only seemed to last 12-15,000 miles.

The only reason I don't have the car now is that it was written off. Unfortunately, after five years and only 35,000 miles the value was so low that it was uneconomical to repair. Shame, because it was a wonderful car which never let me down.
