Ford Focus ST 2.5 (2006)

Modern cars don't have handbrakes... (oh no !!) they also don't have ...

whatever..

I love my Ford focus for its hadbrake turns in a snowy carpark, twitchy acceleration out of the hairpins down the hill(I live in Switzerlane)... basically I know I am driving it... and I can afford a rather posher car. By the way, make sure you don't wear the tyres out, it can be scary when they don't grip on a downhill hairpin with a drop off....

I've only had my Focus ST-2 (ORANGE) for two weeks now but I'm f*****g loving it, the sound it makes when you plant your foot down is music to my ears & when its time to turn the motor off its sounds like a jet engine winding down it makes me smile ear to ear. know matter where you go people come up to LQQK talk or just say I want one of then too. A must have for any petrol head

Can i start by saying this car is the best all round hot hatch out there at the moment, yes the vxr is minutely quicker but get it on an even slightly damp road or a corner and the vxr is buggered.

Also as i have done if you cant bear prats in vxrs trying to race you, fords official tuners MOUNTUNE will give you a package for around 1500 quid which is basically a remap and some upgraded engine bits.They told me it tunes the car to around 270 bhp and would have the same 0- 120mph time as the focus RS!(as the rs is basically an st with the same engine just tuned)

Also the best bit about it is, that because MOUNTUNE are registerd tuners of ford none of the mods will affect the ford warranty

I am tired of hearing reviews (not here) that this car is "too thirsty", that the MPG is terrible and that the road tax is expensive. ITS A 2.5 ltr, TURBO CHARGED % POT ENGINE!! Its hardly suprising no. Ford make a diesels buy one of them.

Te Focus ST is just incredible. Its (very) fast, its reliable & never misses a beat, its comfortable, its predictable, its safe, its easy to drive and as practical as... well a Focus.

The engine is massively impressive, the power is totally accessable throguh the rev range and is delivered so beautifully that its just as at home gentley ferrying kids around as being pushed hard when dad gets a moment to himself.

The best bit about this car... The noise.

Wow, its intoxicating, it makes me smile from ear to ear, from the below to the growl to the whistle and whirrr is a sonice afront, take your foot off and hearing the exhaust pop every now and again the icing on the cake.

Sure, the orange and white versions are to cater for "certain" tastes, can't say i am a fan or think it helps the range, but my seal grey 5 door, i think, looks fantastic.

Its understated, quietly confident and its form is stealthily crafted. It almost says what it does on the tin... almost. And that's why i love it, people judge the ST and wrongly. I love the fact that the ST is pre-judged by those safely sat behind BMW, VW or Audi badges. When any of them get in and experience what this car is about, feel the surge and listen to the acoustics, it doesn't take long for an ear to ear smile to appear.

In summary this car is a true all rounder, its not desgined specifically for the school run nor is it desgined specifically for the track but what it does do is everything in the middle and really very well. So don't listen to those that say its not good on the track, of course its not, get an elise OR that its too thirsty... get a diesel....

Ihave owned many cars in my time, some much more expensive than this, but its this car that has delivered the most. It is truely fantastic.

This car is simply outstanding and on every level. I bought mine, an 07, second hand with 16,500 miles on the clock, 3 years extended ford warranty and 6 months tax from a ford dealer direct for 12,900! The volvo engine sounds sensational from the whizz of the turbo to the bellow from the pipes, the acceleration surges at any rev, its comfortable and will put an ear to ear smile on your face every time you get in it. This is not to mention you can fit a family in it too. For those that moan about the MPG... seriously... buy the diesal focus for crying out loud, its not rocket science. Its a great car and, especially at night, a lovely place to be. The st-2 is the one to get and i believe its a steal, even at 13-14k

I'm 18 and had my focus st for about a month I live in germany and imported it frm england wat with the tax free prices out here and the military discount I managed to get a focus st3 for the price of 17 grand and wid the insurance of 180 euros a month I say u cudnt really go wrong I think the car look and handles great i read reviews before I brought it and most people complained about the seating position but I no problem with it deffinatly a sweet forst car for the youngsters who can afford it.

Review based on a Ford Focus ST 2.5 car with a Re-map and aftermarket exhaust:A fantastic allround car. It does almost everything you need of a hatchback and a bit more. Very easy to drive quick and the electronics keep this heavy, powerful car in a straighline whatever the conditions and doesn't kill the fun or momentum... except on corner exits where the lack of an LSD is noticed in a big way as the ASR brings play to a literal stop. You dont need 4wd to deploy this much power, just a less compromised setup.However the car has a great ride for something that handles so well, and is very safe to throw around at whatever speed. It just lacks that edge or outright ability you might hope for.Imho the mods are essential. Its a big car and 220bhp isnt enough, plus the car can handle it easy enough. The exhuast really does make the engine sound superb without ever being annoying. The only downside is for a 2.5 turbo, and a couple of grand of mods, BHP isnt quite what you'd expect after seeing what VAG units put out or even some old skool 2 litre units after a few mods.On practical side, its a Focus....Overall?A brilliant car, but not the last word in outright performance or fun.

took a silver ST2 out to day, opend it right out going through the gears, very fast, smooth and fun in every way posible....... it was fun in every way, very,very fast, i was sucked into my seat, griped the road with ease, loved the sound of the engine roar and it turned peoples head, over all im buying it asap......i found no bad points, apart from couldnt see end of bonnet wen driving, which wasnt an isue for me rteally.......

Don't know what that guy dowm there is on about the cupra is nothing compared to the ST, have had both and the ST is faster than the cupra for sure, NO cupra that I have come across has been able to beat the Focus ST, I like the cupra don't get me wrong but it's not as good as the Focus.The Focus is fast, reliable, fun and an allround good car:- It's not for everyone but what car is?!

I've had my gunmetal gray st-2 for 4 weeks now I find it fun to drive. it does my head in when im at work and the car is in the car park. its very fact and comfatable to drive. I get alot of looks and a lot of my friends are jelous and some are after a st from been in mine. They is power in every gear abd the car doesnt want to slow down. Its deffently a point catcher! if you want the looks and want the syle this is the car to get. I looked at the Astra vxr befor but the focus for looks and comfort won it for me!

I would tell any one if you want a fast good looking car and the car tax is 115 for 6 months insurance group 17 this is the ideal car. Its got everything looks, size and speed!
