Out of the 5 cars I have ever owned (a Toyota Celica, a Ford Fiesta, a Citroen Xsara, a Fiat Stilo and this) this Alfa Romeo 156 JTS 2.0 is, hands down, the best of them by a country mile. Reasons? Well, it is unfalteringly reliable (but then my expectations were well managed!), it handles impeccably, rides really comfortably and, given the full leather interior and climate control, is an absolute joy to be in. It also looks so good and there's plenty of boot space.
The performance isn't as sharp as I was expecting it to be but it is an ex-fleet car so all of those miles may have taken the edge off it. Still quick enough for me though.
I got mine (with spec as described) in 2010 for £1300 for a seven year old with 110K on the clock.

Great engine, super handling, good quality but the Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 JTS isn't very practical for families.
