Purchased A Lexus Is 250 Se Just Over A Year Ago.
Purchased a Lexus IS 250 SE just over a year ago.
No problems with the car, but I couldn't get comfortable due to my size (as in height). This unfortunately meant I had to look for an alternative car, as the seating position problem took a few days to become evident and wasnot noticed by me during the testdrive. By the time I discovered the problem, I was officially the owner.
Also there is very limited space in the back of the car, especially with the front seats all the way back.
The boot is small and I find the standard Audio System for a car of this class very disappointing.
Mechanically however there is nothing wrong with the car and it can be very fast indeed. The traction control is very good and for a V6 2.5L the economy isn't that bad. The manual gear, I feel, lacks smoothness.
Keep an eye on the tyre pressures as they need to be increased the faster you want to push the car.
After a chip became a large crack, the windscreen needed replacing and thanks to Lexus' immaculate built quality, a replacement was fitted effortless and the repair is unnoticable.
When I had a minor warranty job done on my car, the dealer was still happily showing the Lexus IS to clients taller (!) then me, even though I had already told them of my problems.
If you consider buying this car, make sure you test drive it for at least a week, this advise of course applies to all IS models.
The car is still in the family and I still occasionally take it for a spin, but it should have been my main vehicle really.
