I Bought This Car, Vw Passatt 1.9 Tdi Se Estate (1
I bought this car, Vw Passatt 1.9 TDI SE Estate (130bhp) a couple of years ago, and am happy to say that the Germans did good. This car is incredible. The car oozes in build quality, its no luxury car, but I regularly go camping, biking, windsurfing on long trips from the South Coast to Scotland and Wales and I am so glad I have this car.
Its comfortable, econmoical (50mpg +) on a good run, very spacious inside and loads of room for all my kit. It would make an excellent family car, and has cigarette lighter points in the back and boot to run your kids games off etc. For anybody with dogs its great, as you can lift the boot up, sit quite comfortably in the back and take your boots off and enjoy a cuppa after a long walk.
I service the car myself with regular 6,000 mile oil changes. Its extremely important that this is done regularly. I took it for an MOT the other day and the guy was suprised that it passed as it was six years old and he thought that something may need doing. I said "It's because I look after it." Its extremely reliable. When you read other reviews they all seem to suggest buying the 130bhp engine due to the extra torque and power you get. My old mans just bought a 105bhp '06 Passatt and he states that he does notice the difference between the two engines.
The only drawback if there is one, is that it rolls a little in the corners.
