Great Value For Money

I part exed my passat 1.8 20v turbo for a 05 octavis vrs. Excellent value for money, reliable, quick. very suprizing for a skoda. Against the passat its alot quicker (however has same but tuned up VAG engine), better interior however passat seems more solid. Pros of the car is defently the performance reliability and cost. Sound system has a 6 cd changer but power and speakers are weak, would recommend to replace at least the speakers. Was going to buy a Golf gti (basically same car as vrs) but was twice the price of the vrs. I dont mind wearing a skoda badge to save £4000 over the vw! Recently got the vrs remapped and induction kit (only £300) and is 210bhp+ which is great fun. Is ok on fuel aswell cosidering performance. Will do 35mpg+ motorway and 25mpg+ round town which isnt too bad for a car with over 200bhp. I would defently recommend to others even if its just to experence the face on the BMW driver whos just paid £25000 for his motor and has just been blown away by a skoda!

I've Owned My Mk1 Octavia Vrs For Around Two Years

I've owned my mk1 octavia vrs for around two years now, and absolutely love it! It's a proper performance car yet has understated looks and can be bought quite cheaply. The 1.8T engine has plenty of pull, and will hit around 70mph in second gear, which can put a nice big grin on even the sternest of faces! (and a decidedly concerned look on the face of the BMW 3-series driver shrinking in your rear-view mirror!) The interior of the octy is fairly well equipped with half-leather sports seats as standard, and the boot is simply cavernous! (especially if you go for the vrs estate!)

I'm looking to trade in my vrs soon, and have quite a healthy budget, yet after trawling through the classifieds I can honestly say that NOTHING I've seen (focus st, renaultsport megane, civic type-r etc.) can match the appeal of my octy... A damn fine car...

If you have a healthy budget, then buy the best performance value you can - a Subaru Impreza STi 330S!!

Will make your old Octavia vRS feel like a MilkFloat in comparison.

Well I Have A 2005 Vrs Which Has Covered 75,000 Ki

Well I have a 2005 Vrs which has covered 75,000 Kilometres. The first thing that went wrong were the headlights so the dealer replaced them no charge, Second the engine covers fell off after a few weeks - dealer said no charge then sent a bill for two hundred euro to fix. Then the suspension roller bearing broke, then the windows interior light sunroof stopped working, also had a new window runner fitted. And last but not least I was driving on the motorway, the oil pressure light came on so I pulled in and the top of the engine was rattling, about 5 seconds after pulling in the engine came to a stop. Now having some mechanics experience I knew that either the oil pump had given up or the oil pipe lifting the oil was blocked, so the car was towed 150 miles home. Rang the garage and I had to tow the car to them where the owners son was told the story from start to finish as he is in charge of service department. Went in a week later and was passed to head mechanic that explained to me that the timing belt had slipped and he couldn't work out why!!!! Well then I told him why as the oil wasn't able to get to the top of the engine causing the top end to seize, he then said it couldn't have been the oil pressure light because there isn't one on a vrs!!!! Anyway they looked, found that the pipe that lifts the oil blocked because of lack of service even though the service had been carried out by a good garage that even the head mechanic admitted. The outcome was they aren't going to fix it and if I wanted to argue it Skoda Ireland would take the car to Dublin and go through the whole car and find any problems that could have caused the problem that I had done!!!!

Oh and two hundred euro charge to tell me what was wrong with the car. Anyway it's 1600 for a new head plus VAT or around 5000 for a new engine!!! 2600 in Germany no VAT even paying to go there and back is a lot cheaper. Anyway I have many friends in the car business and I have heard now of 4 20v turbo vag engines from Audi Skoda and VW at the exact same thing. Just in case anyone is wondering red oil light is level and orange is pressure.

Had three Skodas in 4 years, build quality, running costs, dealer support and purchase price excellent - Far better than the German rivals. Forget the badge, put the savings in the bank and drive a superior vehicle.

Having Nearly 3 Years Of Owning The Octavia Vrs An

Having nearly 3 years of owning the Octavia vRS and having no problems I recently had a engine management system warning light come on. Having had the Skoda garage look at the fault they assured me it was safe to drive while I waited for the cooling system sensor to arrive. However 7 days later the temp gauge went into the red and warning lights and alarms went into operation causing me to call on the services of the AA to recover it to the garage after failure of the water pump and resulting overheat of engine. I wonder what is the point of these sensor warnings if the Skoda garage are not going to investigate further into possible reasons for failure.

I have a 2001 vrs, had the same problem a few times, (temperature sensor failed) apparently it's a common problem. It's usually cheap to fix, but I would never drive the car far when the sensor's faulty, that sensor is what causes the cooling fan to kick in, but if it's not working then obviously the fan won't start up and your engine could easily overheat! Anyway, it seems the octy vrs has a few common problems (as most cars do...), and even though I've just had to fork out for a replacement gearbox (an 'uncommon' problem!) I still love the car! It's properly rapid, yet comfortable and with quite understated looks. There's a reason why several police forces use them as unmarked patrol cars...

You Dont Tend To Think Of Skoda When You Think Per

You dont tend to think of Skoda when you think performance car, but let me tell you about the 2006 model Octavia 2.0i Turbo VRS. 0-62 in 7.3secs and 149mph top speed, all wrapped up in a stylish value for money package. Sitting on its 18" alloys and with the most tasty suede interior, this car just hoofs its competitors in to touch. A 150mph family saloon for under £18,000, with 5 seats, a huge boot, amazing handling, superb build quality and an engine that lets you drive it comfortably in town at 30mph in 5th gear. There is another bonus as well, as you watch all those flash BMW drivers as the Skoda leves them in its wake. We are badge concious in the UK and its rediculous that we should be (its not like that in Europe). Owned and built by the VW group, this Skoda Octavia VRS blends all the best from VW, Audi & SEAT and wraps it up and calls it Skoda. Keep your eye out for one of these on the road, because the driver will be 100% relaxed with himself, not needing a badge to make a statement about who he is and I bet he's still got cash in the bank over the other pretentious badge driving car owners. Buy one, but at least try one, if just for the experience, you wont forget it. Well done Skoda.

I Am More Than Satisfied With My Skoda Octavia Vrs

I am more than satisfied with my Skoda Octavia vRS estate which I rate as the best car I have owned in over thirty years. The combination of performance, load - lugging ability and value for money is unbeatable. Acceleration and road holding are exhilarating and at times a conscious effort has to be made to keep the car's exuberance and enthusiasm in check. Fuel economy is reasonable but obviously depends on driving style. The pale grey carpets and seat panels are pretty impractical, even for people without sticky-fingered kids, but the interior has a real quality feel, as has the whole build of the car. I've had a couple of reliability issues, one with the ignition switch and one with the fuel filter, but nothing sufficient to detract from the overall pleasure of ownership and the local Skoda dealers have been fantastic. Overall conclusion - I love my vRS to bits.

The coolant fan is constantly when the car is running. Diagnostic check could not find fault. The fuse and sensors all fine. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?
