Serious Sleeper
Traded an estate Astra with a noisy VVT pulley for this beast. From the factory this engine is under utilised. It is shared with the Vectra VXR which has more power stock than the Aero. Within a month I had it remapped by emaps who have a good reputation. The difference was night and day. After the simple remap (stage 1 £350) and now with 300bhp, 440Nm this car is shockingly quick from a roll. If the road is wet the traction control comes on at 80mph when floored..!!! This family estate now keeps up with e46 m3's, Porsche boxters and Carrera 4's from a roll. Don't believe me, buy one and try it LOL...!! Of course thats only in a straight line, although the handling is good for an estate.
When driven sensibly on motorway, economy is acceptable but don't use it too regularly for town driving unless you are well off. Because of the front wheel drive and all that torque, launching the car optimally is tricky and takes practice but lets face it, on a roll is where 90% of us have our fun so its not a deal breaker, descent tyres really help and on a dry road I have managed a 5.8 0-60. Very nice seats and V6T snarling engine sounds awesome.
