Not At Good As I Expected From An Sel Model
I have driven VW and audis for years now, I own this and a top end VW sharan.
Engine oh my god how noisy, and you can sure hear it from the cockpit, do diesels really need to be this noisy today. Bluetooth stereo really poor connectivity to phone, constantly sits there sayin "startling telephone"
Cup holders are too far forward so you can't easily put cup in or take it out. Doors have bottle holders but the bottles fall out when you open the door. The sunglasses holder that is and has been on all other models they have decided to remove.
There are no cubby holes to put stuff in.
For an SEL I would have thought the interior would have been more plush, but feels and looks cheap and basic.
Suspension has a really annoying squeak when you go over bumps.
Constantly hear clicking sounds from under dash, possibly relays?
When you set things in the onboard computer you would expect it to be persistent, but everytime you start the car you have to go in and disable and change things again..very annoying.
Fuel economy ok but expected 70mpg but only get about 59, and that is driving it cautiously.
Plus side, steering wheel is nice and functional, wheels look good. Drive and handling good
In summary over priced and doesn't have the economy or quality feel you would come to expect from a VW high end model.
I first wrote this review back in 2015 and thought i would update it, i first gave the review 3 stars on reflection this was probably over generous.
The car continues to be a pretty nasty specimen. The aircon packed up about 6 months ago. The local delership Vindis adds to the frustration as they are pretty useless too. Car has had several overheating issues, rattles even more now than it used to. If you are thinking of buying one of these don't.
I have had audi's and VW since the early nineties and for the fist time in august I wont be buying a VW. My other car hit with the diesel scandal, of which the comms with VW has been appauling, they have lost me as a customer because of the abtuse nature of their lack of bothering. Good bye VW.
