Ford Fiesta 1.25 16v Duratec 2006 3 Door

Great little car, i downsized from a VW GOLF 2.0GT TDI to this 2006 1.25 16v Fiesta 2006 model in black, 3 door.

Initially i didn't like the Fiesta, it felt gutless and heavy steering, and build quality wasn't like the Golf was, but over the months i've owned it, i've actually grown to really like my Fiesta!

Owned 5 months now, it's got 64K on the clock, i've done 2.5k in it.

When i got it there were a few things needed doing to it. Been in the family 5yrs or so, and passed from my Uncle to my Dad, and then to me, and sadly neglected all along the way. Brake pads v.low, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, engine oil all needed topping up, engine almost had nothing in is as hardly registered on dipstick! Hadn't been done since 38k so way way overdue a service, but i was lucky! One oil and oil filter change using suitable Halfords stuff, new air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, recently changed the power steering fluid, and fitted new front brake discs and pads(warped discs/pedal vibration) the little Fiesta is once again on form!

Think its about 74bhp in the book, i have constantly been checking mpg figures achieved and you will get anything from 41.5mpg up to 44.7mpg, lower mpg if alot of short journeys involved(0-3miles each time), and higher mpg if doing distances at 60-70mph as well as local driving. I expected more but it is quite a heavy car with all the safety side impact bars and other stuff weighing it down, and being just a 1.25litre engine too. I must add i drive very sedately, half throttle etc, and its fine keeping up with traffic but its not a car you'd try and overtake stuff in above 50mph unless on a motorway or dual carriageway, it just hasn't got much 'get-up-and-go', but it has just enough to deal with most if not all situations ok.

The aircon in mine is a bit weak, been re-gassed since i got the car but on a scale of 1-10 i'd rate it as a 3, its just not very good, so if yours isn't working or you have a broken pipe etc, maybe think twice about spending out to fix it?

Road noise is a problem with cars fitted with the 195/50/15's alloys. I fitted some 175/65/14 wheels/tire combo from a 2009 Mk7 Fiesta onto mine, eBay purchase for just £20 collected locally, 3x Michelin energy tires with 6mm tread, 1x budget make with 6mm tread, bargain of the century!!! Offset is slightly different to the Mk6/6.5 but not noticeable in driving or to look at(maybe 6-8mm further out each side? but they bolt straight on as pcd is the same), and compared to the 195/50/15's i had fitted previously road noise had dropped a massive 30% at 70mph! Highly recommended, steering also lighter as a result.

Mine has heated screen and i can't praise this enough, it works great, very minimal disruption of vision as the wires woven in the screen are very very fine, and in winter its been amazing to defrost the screen before i've finished scraping ice off the rest of the car.

Cambelts were originally 10yrs/100k miles but Ford have dropped this down to 8yrs, so mines due this year(2014), budget approx £130-150 for that.

Electric windows wind up and down quickly, radio reception is ok but not great, maybe a clean up of the roof mounted aerial earth contact might help.

Overall a jolly good car, its been 100% dependable, easy to work on, parts have been very reasonable price, and all round visibility is good tho rear window is quite low(improved structual strength in roll over by reducing rear window height), mirrors fold in manually, central locking has deadlock action. Fuel comsumption is low-mid 40's, tax currently £140(2013/14) 142g/km CO2 emissions, not much else i can say tbh. I'm very happy with it.

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Tdci

The Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI is one of amazing piece of work. Formally a town car, the little vehicule is undoubtedly well engineered with lond distance trips for small families in mind. Starting with its interior, and despite the fact that the car looks very compact, the seating is very comfortable and roomy for four full size adults, and even though the back is a little bit cramped, the design allows for moderate space in the rear.

The handling is superb and nifty, while the quick diesel engine is always available for the tasks which it is required to fulfill on all types of terrain. Despite its weight, the fiesta proves to be very steady and handles corners with efficiency and manoeuvres like a bird.

On the other hand, the gimmicks and gadgets are always up to the level of the Fiesta owners, with Automatic Air Conditionning and front window lifts. The power steering option is a little bit cranky, however it proves to be very good in handling. The alloy wheels tend to be a little bit 'fragile' over rough surfaces because of their dimensions, but on the highway and on paved city roads, the handling proves to be very magnificient.

Extremely in shape for this Era, the Fiesta is undoubtedly one of the most popular cars in the market and no doubt provides plenty for the money given for its charms. The high tech stereo equipment provides plenty of entertainment for the road and the wireless phone connectivity proves very nifty for drivers while on the go.

I Own A Fiesta 1.25 Style, This Little Car I

I own a fiesta 1.25 style,

This little car is brilliant, the handling is responsive, and quick, and even though it has a small engine, it does hold its own. just under £40 pounds to fill the tank ( thats with unleaded at £1.39) with a range of about 345 miles.

the interior is tough and durable with mine having fabric seats, the controls are easy to use, and my partner has only just passed her test and she even says she loves the feel of the car, she even said it handled better than her test car (fiat 500)

plenty of room both up front and carrys 5 people with no issues.

the boot space is ample even with the seats up.

if I was to be picky and find bad points, for me it would be that the cup holder is situated to close to the gear stick and the center console hangs a little to low, especially if you have a bottle in the holder.
