Amazingly Reliable.
I have owned a 55 plate Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 Elegance for 5 yrs. We use it every day and have done 45000 miles, on one service and a yearly oil change, The shogun seams invincible with zero maintenance. The transmission is lumpy and the engine can be noisy but after reading reviews of how un-reliable and expensive to repair other 4X4 can be I am very happy with the Shogun.

2nd Brilliant Shogun. The Last One Did 75 K .
This is a 2006 elegance. It's just brilliant. It tows a twin axle caravan and a three tonne trailer. Only last week it took me 4 miles over the rough tracks of the Derbyshire moors in connection with my work. Next week it is going to North Wales. It hs done about 38k hard miles and apart from service it has had 2 new rear springs and new brake discs and pads. The tyres will soon need replacing but I think they are the original tyres.I just love it.

I Love And Loath My Shogun. It's Honest, Seemingly
I love and loath my Shogun. It's honest, seemingly tough as old boots and relatively cheap to run. However like a previous reviewer I had a major gearbox rebuild fortunately under warranty but it ruined an overseas holiday. Not sure the rebuild was done properly as 2 years later I have transmission issues again.
From my experience there are no decent Mitsi dealers or specialists, the Shogun has really short service intervals. I really don't want a land rover or something naff and soft but I think I would struggle to recommend a Shogun to anyone especially as the dealers are truly shocking. Then again it's safe, with great road presence and is a fantastic family vehicle.
Deeply conflicted, maybe I just got a lemon. I would really recommend an independent inspection for a 2nd hand vehicle.I didn't have one and I could have possibly avoided a lot of grief.

The Car Has Been Back To The Dealer 10 Times To Fi
THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 10 TIMES TO FIND OUT WHY THE REAR BRAKE SHOES KEEP COMING ON. MPG DID NOT MATCH THE SALES DETAILS AND MITSUBISHI HAVE REPLIED SAYING SOME DO SOME DON'T,ALSO THE MANIFOLD HAS BEEN UPGRADED BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FAULT THAT BLOCKS THE ORIGINAL BREATHER PIPE. STILL NOT FIXED, !!!
THE HARD DRIVE FOR THE RADIO IS REALY GOOD THOUGH.

I Have Had A Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 Td Di-d Eleganc
I have had a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 TD DI-D Elegance 5dr for two years now. It is a 53 plater and has done 67.000 miles. I use it every week to fly up and down the M6 from Manchester to the lakes and it has never let me down. The vehicle I had before this was a series 3 BMW estate, but the shogun beats it hands down. On most weeks the shogun spends at least one day up to the bottom of the doors in the lake, launching and retrieving boats and takes this all in its stride

I Am Delighted With The Vehicle My Previous Vehicl
I am delighted with the vehicle my previous vehicle was a BMW 735 and it cant match that for speed and silence but everything else is better. It seems bullet proof and will pull a 1.5 metric ton caravan onto or off a wet grassy slope as though it was tarmac.
Q&A
I am in the process of buying a 2nd hand 3.2 Elegance. Are they chain or belt driven? Also the seller seems to have a problem with the back door not opening? Any ideas?Â
