No Problems So Far, Could Really Do With The 2.2 E

No problems so far, could really do with the 2.2 engine but the 2.0 is cheap to tax, and you can always buy a "power chip" if you want more power. Practical boot space, comfy seats, although as a passenger you can slide around a bit on the leather through corners (could do with a grab rail like a Landy). Good sound system, average sat nav, DVD player a good feature for when your stuck in traffic or waiting for some one! Tyre range is limited and they are quite pricey. Mine handled the winter snow very well especially considering the "on road/summer" tyres it was running on. Its also been ok across a few wet grassy fields with gradients, but remember its an SUV not a mud plugging true 4x4.

My 10 Month Old Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 Di-d Eleg

My 10 month old Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 DI-D Elegance 5dr broke down 3 weeks ago. It was thought to be a turbo problem. The garage replaced the turbo but said further major problems. They say fuel contamination and not covered by warranty. They have given me a sample. It is blue/black. I fill my other car with same diesel at same garage and no problems. Every mechanic I have spoken to says fuel contam will not break a turbo and the contam is not from the fuel station. The garage ( Brindley at Cannock ) refused to test the fuel and my insurer wont accept the claim as they need proof from the garage. I went back to the garage to ask to see the turbo as I was becoming suspicious. They said they couldnt find it. I went back a couple of days later and they then refused me access to see the turbo or even my car. What are they hiding. Mitsusbishi customer service absolutely terrible- non existent. No sign of car being repaired. Has anybody else had the same problem ?

Not having the same actual problem as you, but nevertheless having MAJOR problems with our 08 Outlander Warrior.

Been losing coolant since October 09 - very very long story short, head gasket has now been replaced twice (both times needing a specialist mechanic to come from head office) due to continued coolant loss and then a massive oil leak.

Local "Mitsi approved" garage have literally had the car more than we have this year. Mitsubushi head office are worse than useless, unhelpful, uninterested...

Picked car up Friday when it was "fixed" - ran it to Portsmouth from Essex, got back to find empty coolant bottle and a fresh oil leak. Not impressed...

Have asked for new/replacement car/money back/compensation but have got nowhere.

The Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 Di-d Elegance 5dr Has

The Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 DI-D Elegance 5dr has comfortable, stylish on-road performance. However, if you need the 4x4 performance (as I frequently do) dont buy this vehicle- plan to get rid of mine ASAP in view of these problems. Low torque at low revs can be very unforgiving and will stall even when moving if you are in the wrong gear.

The 4 wheel performance is very poor, I found it useless in snow as the low torque is so poor you have to rev higher and just end up digging in with wheel spin. So bad i had to be towed out of snow by a Suzuki grand vitara which handled the same conditions effortlessly.

Would love to get rid of ours as we have had problems with the turbo even with a warranty we have been fobbed of, so we have taken it to trading standards to sort out one year later we are still waiting, love the vehicle but not Mitsubishi attitude to its customers

I Had The Power Upgrade From Mitsubishi For The Td

I had the power upgrade from Mitsubishi for the TDI engine - BHP up from 138 to 167 and torque up from 310nm to 365 nm. As a result the engine has much more mid range punch and is probably on a par with the top of the range Diamond Outlander with the 2.2 Peugeot diesel engine. Would recommend the power upgrade but not cheap (£787).
