My Land Rover Freelander 1.8 Se Has Been Totally R
My Land Rover Freelander 1.8 SE has been totally reliable. Was going to swap after 3 years for the new model but whilst the front is marginally better, the newer interior was not as pleasing as the 2001 model. The face lift model had a worse dash design with confusing instruments and a dark black finish, which in our view, compared badly with the older model.
Despite an excellent deal on offer (less money each month and just hand back one car and take a new one) we kept the 2001 model. Now done "average miles for year" and to date no problems. It is the model that has had the remote thermostat fitted as standard rather than the one in the engine block (what a stupid idea that was!) so hopefully we will not have the head gasket problem.
I found this review very helpful because...well am about to get one myelf and with all the head gasket problems and from wot i read from other reviews by ppl already using it,i nearly chan ma mind but i think am still gonna go for it and probably choose the model with less complaints thanks....

On The Plus Side The Land Rover Freelander Has Bee
On the plus side the Land Rover Freelander has been really very good. We have used it on a range of journeys A, B roads and motorways and it does drink petrol quite quickly (aerodynamics of a brick and weight of an elephant). Very comfy driving position and loads of room the radio seems quite good also. We chose not to have it serviced by the dealership as they charge Range Rover prices.
On the negative side the plastic dash is cheap and being tall I can not see the dials.
