The Honda Cr-v 4x4 Is A Smooth, Refined, Well Fini
The Honda CR-V 4x4 is a smooth, refined, well finished vehicle ideal for tracks but not a serious off-roader. Engine is smooth with plenty of torque and turbo whine is only feintly audible.
Comparing The Jeep Cherokee, the RAV4(5Dr) and the CRV the drive went from rough 4x4 of the Jeep through to the almost "wallowy" CR-V. A firmer ride would have been nice but at least it doesn't roll like a Freelander on corners. The RAV4 is more precise and cheaper but is showing its age.
Handbrake on the dash is an American peculiarity I think. It is OK for an automatic but a bit of a pain if you use it at junctions and live in a hilly place. As a parking brake its fine but tall people find their left knee rests on it.
Apart from those niggles I can't fault it! It just oozes quality.
update
From a mileage of 250 per week mixed town/A roads get 38mpg (diesel/uk gallon). Have discovered many small touches that Honda don't mention in the blurb that have obviously been thought through eg multiposition sun roof in ventilation mode, cruise control remembers last set speed. Worth considering
the rear parking sensors though as reverse manouvring takes a little mastering due to restricted rear view.
