Changed Compound?

I had a set of for 215 55 YR16 Dunlop SP01's (made in Germany) for my Audi Quattro in December 2010. They were absolutely great and performed much better in both the wet and the dry (and snow) than the Michellin Primacys that I had before. So why change I thought when I came to change the front pair after 32,000 miles? So I didn't, but the new ones (also made in Germany) have turned out to be extremely noisy - I suspect Dunlop have changed the compound. The rear ones are still going strong and I expect to get well over 35,000 out of them, but what do I buy when the time comes to replace them?

Excellent Until It Snows.

My ratings apply to around 99% of my motoring, that is until a heavy snowfall. The tyres (manufactured in Germany) were new during last winter and grip in snow was non- existent. Now after a further heavy snowfall a year later, (4/2/12) with only 13,000 miles covered, further unbelievable grip problems. So if you live somewhere where it never snows they will suit you well. I though will never purchase these tyres again.

They are Ultra High Performance Summer tires and specifically not designed for the snow. Not surprised they didn't handle well. You should do your research the next time you buy tires. They are excellent on wet and dry pavement. However it sounds like you might try the Pilot Sport A/S Plus as its an all season tire.

Terrible Sp01

Car drove sweet before i put sp01 on the front, with the stupid tread

Pattern they pick up all the grooves in the road and make steering judder when

Changing direction. They are balanced and tracking is perfect.Had to put these awful

tires on the rear and dunlop sp 9000 to the front.Problem solved, these tires and an absolute

nightmare that could have you wondering if you have bearings gone and other issues. Its the tires

THEY ARE USELESS

As I am nearing to the end of these tyres 27k,I have found these tyres excellent,I have driven these tyres quite hard especially in the rat runs of London and cross country, the advantages of a higher clearance vehicle allows this or you wouldn`t have had much of a sump left?

I have driven across Europe at speeds, especially in Germany and have never had any handling problems what so ever...Highly recommended....

I purchased these for commuting which involved cross country roads and motorway driving. At first glance they look like a performance tyre although they are only priced at mid range. Slightly noisier than than the Hankook K415's that I purchased to replace them but much better feel especially at the limit during cornering and really dug into the tarmac on heavy braking. I would have purchased another set of these if only I could have found some. I replaced them at 15,000 miles as the belt on one of the tyres had snapped due to a pothole. Very much doubt that it was a fault of the design due to the general high safety standards of today's tyres.

These Are Possibly The Worst Tyres That Money Coul

These are possibly the worst tyres that money could buy, absolutely no grip in the dry or the wet, in fact they feel so dangerous that I am considering losing £550 and going back to Toyos, which for me have been faultless. The front SP01s are marginally better and were manufactured in Turkey, stay WELL clear of the SP01s made in china :(

I found this review very helpful because...I too find the sport 01 lacking grip AND are worn out in 12,000 miles!!

horrible road noise....i am ready to throw the Dunlop SP Sport tyres in the garbage after 3 months....and they grab every groove in the road and jerk the steering wheel all over the place (lexus gs300 2006).
