Best I've Tried

Been riding bikes for well over 40 years - when I started it was the practice to cover metal parts in a thin layer of grease & Gunk it off in Spring! Over the years I've tried WD-40, GT85 & most other 'winterisation' products - I ride virtually everyday, including winter commuting. Ignored this - seemed pricey. Them a MO company had a special offer on 2 aerosols.

Tried it - one aerosol protected both my bikes from Autumn through till Spring. A couple of years ago, saw a product (XCP?) had even higher test results, tried it. In the real world, not as good.

ACF is pricey, so I saved money by buying a bulk liquid pack that came with a

little hand sprayer. Did my motorbikes, pushies & garden tools, still got enough for a few more Winters! The price is the only reason it hasn't got 5 stars.

I've Been Using Anti-corrosion Formulas In One For

I've been using anti-corrosion formulas in one form or another for over a decade, mainly on all my motorcycles. In the early days all you had widely available was the likes of WD40 and its rivals - these worked well, but tended to collect a lot of crud, which proved difficult to remove during a wash.

I then stumbled across an anti-corrosion formula called ACF50. This stuff was designed and produced decades ago to be used on military equipment (planes etc) to protect them from the effects of salt air and general corrosion - according to the manufacturer's provided information. ACF50 is without doubt the best I've ever used, although it can be troublesome to apply, as it comes out of the aerosol in a foam form, and you then need to apply this by cloth or brush - but once it is applied that's it - leave it for over a year and your bike is protected. It does gather some dirt and road crud, but this all easily washes off when it's time to revive your pride and joy with a post winter wash. I decided to give this Scottoiler FS 365 a try, and yes it does appear to protect the bike, and due to it being a spray application it is effortless to cover all the required parts of your bike etc....

BUT.... it is water soluble, and if you ride through a heavy downpour then you'll have to reapply it every single time... which can be a pain. However, if this doesn't bother you then 365 is highly recommended... On the flip side, if you just wish to apply a corrosion protection agent, and ride through the winter - then ACF50 is probably best suited, as this will only come off if you purposely wash your bike with detergent / shampoo.

Give them both a try, I rate them both highly - but the ACF50 is in 1st place for me.
