No Tire For Track Day Use!!

Had the Qualifier on my R6 and used it for commute and trackdays.

Understand that people write the tire is ok, but a fair guess from my side is that they have not (propery) used it on trackdays.

The rear tire is somewhat flat shaped, no nice rounding to give you grip for high lean angels. The compound is medium too hard.

You'll probably get some lifetime out of the tire but tracking with your knee-down will bring you to or beyond the grip limit. I know, went beyond it, it all of a sudden just loses grip (rear) when you're cornering with a lot of lean. No warning signs, scary.

Friend of mine also has a R6, again with OEM Qualifiers (600km on them), he also went down on the track, exactly the same story.

Please forget about these Dunlops and get some proper tires if you want to do trackdays!

Excellent Tyre, Never Had Any Problems

I've had these fitted to my R-1 and they give fantastic grip at lean angles of around 50 degrees from vertical in the dry, and 40-45 degrees in the wet. They handle well at all speeds, and have never let me down. I'm personally not concerned about wear, and don't keep track of how many tyres I go through, or how often they get changed, so I have no idea of how long they last. Cornering is controlled, and acceleration & hard braking is awesome. Can't fault them in any way.

Average Tyre

I was hopping for a lot more from this tyre,i have the Q2's and had heard good things about the tyre if you are a warm weather dry road rider you can live with these, you can learn them fast you can feel the warning signals well in advance and they work well. But they loose heat fast and they are not very good in even damp conditions never mind cold or wet. they nearly caught me twice in just damp conditions and i was not pushing hard,i was surprised how easy they lost grip. And since then can never trust them.

Would not use these again.

But i know guys that swaer by them and they can hussle.

So this is just what i found with them.

Good on the road, good on be track. Found they warmed up quicker than expected on the track and kept their heat well. Give you lots of feedback and let you know when the limits are close. Done in 3 track days, never worn one out with just road use. There are more refined tyres out there designed for more specific roles, but as an all rounder these are pretty damn good. Price wise they seem fine too.

Good Tyres

I got an fzs 600 fazer, I had an expensive set of top brand tyres on it when I bought it, but the front end would slip out every now and then when banking down. I then went for the Dunlop qualifiers, and the difference was immense. The overall feel was like riding a new machine, a lot more fun factor and they stick to the road like glue, whatever the weather. I have covered 2200 miles on them, and there is just the tiniest of squaring beginning to form at the centre, so theres a good while in them yet. (I dont commute, just weekend fun on the twisties in south wales) I have good faith in these tyres, But I dont want to tempt fate and so I scored them a 4 :D
