Avon AV60 Motorcycle Tyres

I got a good deal on these tyres - a good £50 less than equivalent qualifiers that I had previously - good and grippy, but rear tyre life shocking - about 2500 from a rear. They were OE fit on my Z750 and I went through 3 in 6k miles.

I thought I'd give these a try on my Z as they were cheap - thinking that if they were bad I'd just get them replaced.

I'm pleasantly surprised - I'm not a superfast rider, but not slow and my initial impression is that they're slower to turn in than the qualifiers but they grip just as well - a recent run over Duke's Pass in Scotland showed them as inspiring just as much confidence as the qualifiers.

After the run there was about 1cm chicken strip on each side, which was about the same as the qualifiers which says the grip and feel in the dry is as good.

Can't comment on life or wet performance as they're newly fitted and It's not rained yet.

My mate got conti road attacks fitted and loves them, so maybe next time I'll try those.

Nice tyre for commuting and having a small amount of fun. For a serious thrash with high cornering speed and lean (e.g. track and twisties) it is terrible. I came off on a "warm" tyre (after 1 hrs riding) on a hot day with perfect road conditions. A simple low side with no warning whatsoever! Not a tyre for any decent sports bike or rider.

Viper sports.

I reckon these tyres are up there with the best. I had them on all through this summer and did a track with them on and they took everything I threw at them, they gave a good mileage and felt nice right through their life. Buy and see for yourself.
