No Good In The Wet Or On The Motorway
I have the S800 matte black limited edition which I have used for the past few years on my daily commute. What attracted me to the helmet was the shelf price of £189 and the matte black and white graphics.
This helmet fits my head nice and snug and is quite light on my neck. The lining is nice and plush and can be removed quite easily which is handy as you will get hot and sweaty in this helmet. From what I've worked out the vents do nothing other than increase the noise from this already noisy helmet. The ventilation is also useless when it comes to clearing a fogged up visor.
I can only assume that previous reviewers have not used this helmet in the wet or the winter as it is absolutely terrible and the visor will fog up instantly. The only way to clear the visor is to open it a notch. But this will allow rain onto the inside of the visor compounding the problem. Mind you, the seal between visor and helmet is so poor that water will get in even if the visor is closed!
This helmet suffers badly from buffeting and wind noise. Long motorway journeys can be very tiring because of this. I'm also a little sceptical about the seatbelt style buckle holding out should it be called into action. A few times I have thought it to be done up only for it to come undone whilst on the move.
Would I buy/recommend this helmet again? In short, NO.

I Ride In The Tropics With High Humidity, And The
I ride in the tropics with high humidity, and the thing that impressed me about this helmet is that it does not mist up with the visor fully closed. My Shoei used to have this problem whenever it rains so I have to leave a gap opening, while putting up with the rain getting into my face. No such problem with the Shark S800.
Comfort and fit is good for my head, but it is a bit noisy (tells you that the air ventilation channelling through works doesn't it?). Advisable to use ear plugs if you intend to travel long distances wearing this helmet.

Shark S800 Butterfly Is A Really Comfortable Light
Shark S800 Butterfly is a really comfortable light helmet but is only good for dry, warm, non windy conditions. If you ride at over 50mph on a cold day, you may as well have the visor open! The visor does not actually touch the helmet at the sides, by design? I would not buy another.

Like Wine And Saddles, The French Make A Quality,
Like wine and saddles, the French make a quality, luxurious helmet. The higher price of the Shark S800 Butterfly compared to some Asian brands was worth the money. I used to hate putting on my other helmet brands because no matter how well they fit they would somehow move during the ride, and my hair would get wacky as a result. This one fits so well that it never moves a milimeter, and the silky lining feels like a high-end head scarf that women wear specifically to keep their hairdo. Prissy as I must sound.

The Shark S800 Butterfly Is A Very Feminine Lookin
The Shark S800 Butterfly is a very feminine looking lightweight helmet with really nice graphics. It has a lovely understated look unlike most helmets out there with their glaring graphics and/or colours. It was very nice to find a product specifically aimed at the female rider instead of male looking helmets that happen to come in pink.
