I Got The Scorpion Exo-700 After Being Tired Of Th

I got the Scorpion EXO-700 after being tired of the big money Arai's after reading reviews. Really wasn't expecting too much but immediately was impressed. Comfort was fantastic, no visor misting AT ALL! was so much quieter the the Arai and with better vision at the sides, so impressed. Visor is a dodle to change (broke the side pod on the old Arai and didn't change the visor again) Even if the prices were reversed, I would still go with the Scorpion.

One Feature Especially Like Is The Ventilation. I

One feature especially like is the ventilation. I have ridden in very hot conditions (103 degrees) and my head did not overheat. It also offers good peripheral vision and easy on/off visor exchange.

I am very satisfied with the Scorpion EXO 700 and have no reservations recommending it.

I Bought A Scorpion Exo-700 Helmet Online In The U

I bought a Scorpion EXO-700 Helmet online in the UK. It passes the ECE-22/05 and Snell standards. I got mine for £90 brand new (from getgeared.co.uk - one of the few places in the UK) and to my mind it is equivalent to some of those £200+ ones. Previously I have owned a Shark and a Takachi TK-30 and this helmet certainly beats the latter. I'd say it's equivalent to the former too. I paid £70 for my TK-30 (I know you can get them for less now) and the EXO-700 beats it hands down.

The fit is great and ventilation is very good in warm weather. There are a plethora of vents - so many in fact that it's hard to remember which ones you have open but it does mean air flow is excellent. The downside of all that air flow is noise. This helmet is nosier than the Shark I owned but no more than the TK-30 and I've found most of the air noise comes from under the helmet. When I wear a neck stocking the noise reduces considerably. Certainly at speeds below 50 or 60 it's no more noticeable than any other helmet. Closing the vents helps a bit too. Air deflection is good with no buffeting around when you get up to motorway speeds. Having said all this, the most annoying noise on my TK-30 was a whistle when you had the visor open, this helmet does not have that at all and thus wins my vote anyway!

The chinstrap buckle is great. It's a quick relase/connect one but is not one of those car seat belt type ones. This has a ratchet slider which you simply push into the buckle and it's fastened. Undoing it is a case of lifting the buckle and there's a small finger strap to help with this. Without a doubt this is the best chinstrap buckle I have seen.

The visor has anti-fog built and to an extent it works. No visor will ever be entirely anti-fog but I've driven this is some pretty cool weather and had virtually no fogging. What fogging does appear goes very quickly and it means you can drive with the visor closed for longer. This is a good thing as my only other gripe would be that the first stop on the visor opening is about an inch up. Both my previous helmets had a stop about a cm up and this was great for extra ventilation. That said the vent on this are so good I haven't really needed to open the visor.

Safety is the reason you have a helmet but having not tested it in that way :o) I feel I can't comment. It meets the UN ECE-22/05 and Snell standards and I have seen reviews elsewhere where people say they came off and this helmet held it's ground.

All in all a great helmet and great value. Comes with a nice helmet bag too.
