Sterling Proreg B Ar12vd Alternator Regulator
This is one of those devices that is supposed to intelligently increase the charge rate from your car or boat alternator so that your batteries are charged better and faster.
It is promarily marketed at the marine sector where large battery banks support all the lights and gadgets found on modern boats. Well I have a boat and tried this gadget because it was cheaper than the rest and Charles Sterling the head of the company has built a reputation based on a number of magazine articles he has written in the sailing abd boating press.
So how good is it?
Build quality - totally unsuitable for marine environment. The circuit board is unsealed and has relays on it - not good in engine or battery compartments.
Installation - very difficult, you need to dismantle your alternator and the product support doesn't help you.
Product support - awful. Charles Sterling attempts to answer all support queries and he is clearly swamped. Why he can't set up a proper support team I don't know. Don'y expect any meaningful help - you'll get a one-liner email of an \"I'm too busy to explain\" answer (yes unbelivably that's what I got!).
Value for money - Its cheap and its nasty.
