Brilliant All Round

Royal Enfield Bullet purchased in February 2016 over the internet and delivered quickly (340 miles). All questions have been answered very professionally indeed. These guys are busy and that was in February so be patient with them (this is a very good sign). You will get excellent value for money so pay them a visit in person if you can. Otherwise be persistent and patient, everybody wants the good guys...

The motorcycle was far better than I ever expected. I feel that this dealership provided me with excellent value for money. They explained the motorcycles good points and bad points before accepting my order over the internet which I thought was very honest. The Royal Enfield Bullet is not every motorcyclists cup of tea. I would however add that the new bikes are a modern retro/classic motorcycle with loads of character and no hassles. There is a2 year manufacturers warranty and if anything needs replacing there is a network of dealerships across the country. I did have an electrical issue at one point but this was dealt with quickly. The bike gives me hours of pleasure every time I take it out: I just don't want to stop riding it once I am out on it...

Excellent Service

I've been taking my various bikes to Ian Murray for a few years now. This latest experience has been just like the others; I'm very happy with the professional service I've received. I'm best described as a 'enthusiastic amateur' when it comes to bike mechanics and, over the past seven months, I've been rebuilding an old Triumph Daytona 1000 (quite a rare beast now) When the big moment came where it was pretty much finished and needed an MOT, the test was quickly and efficiently set up by email and then Ian came to collect the bike from my home in North Edinburgh. As well as the MOT, Ian's team kindly gave the rebuilt bike a good once-over to make sure that I'd screwed it all back together properly and also re-riveted the new chain for me to make sure that it was safely done. Two days later, it was safely delivered back, ready to roll.

Sometimes, the nature of a review centre like this is that people will tend to put finger to keyboard when they want to 'vent' after having a less than positive experience. I'm very happy to write in recognition of another very positive transaction with Ian and his team, just like all the others I've had with them. They're professional, trustworthy and knowledgable and, polarised with what others say on here, I've always found them to be efficient and helpful.

I recommend them highly and, believe me, I'd be amongst the first to complain if things weren't right!

Excellent Bike Which Exceeded Expectation

I purchased my bike direct over the phone and dealt with Ian Murray himself. The bike was delivered by an independent motorcycle delivery firm and the bike was gently lowered down the ramp and on to my drive. Ian told me the bike had been serviced recently and nothing needed doing, however I checked the tyre pressure's prior to my first ride and they were 20% under inflated. Also the oil was a little too dark for my liking and did not look like oil that had been changed 200 miles ago. I am nitpicking, but to be honest after 30 years of riding I have concluded that no dealer is perfect. To sum up I am very happy with the bike and the deal was the right deal for me. Bike was better than expected condition wise and rides lovely. I would buy from Ian again.

Great Motorcycle Shop

Just purchased a Yamaha 125 for my son from an Internet advertisment, the owner was really helpful and explained everything I needed to know. I was a bit concerned with buying a motorcycle I had not seen in person, however having had the bike delivered today it was better than I could have hoped for. The delivery was also a smooth transaction as it had to come from Scotland to South Wales. Would definately recommend this bike shop, really friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Thanks all

Absolutely Shocking Wouldn't Recommend

Phoned Ian's bike shop four times. Three times it's just ran out, finally I got ahold of someone. To then be told that a certain someone wasn't in but they'd call back. 7 days later and I've still heard nothing. Don't understand how people expect to run a business when they don't pick up the phone. And what about customer service. NONE.

WOULDNT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE !!!!

Great Service

It's terrible.....terrible that before this review Ian Murray bikes only had 3.5 stars due to a couple of people with bad experiences. I had a great experience, I got a good price for my trade in and got a vfr1200 for a competitive price, which had bikers pulling up next to me to admire. The staff were very friendly and Ian himself a gentleman. He went through the process smoothly and worked later to finalise the deal. He also ran through the bike before I drove off with a smile on my face. If your thinking about a new bike give him a shout you will be pleasantly surprised.

With respect mate you had a good experience and others haven't which doesn't make them terrible

As you will see another even had to go all the way to sherif court to get their despoit back this tells you two things

A.that any dealer that lies about mileage which you prove Incorrect surely tells you something.

B,if said dealer then even forces you all the way to the sherif court and said court finds in your favour then it's arguable the dealer probably isn't the best dealer in the first place

Fair point no?

New Bike, Great Deal.

I have just taken delivery of my third bike from Ian Murray with whom I have dealt for nearly five years. He was able to source me a brand new example of a new model from a main dealer despite me being told by my local main dealer that 'there are none left other than our demonstrator'. Easy to deal with, price agreed over then phone for my trade in(s) and he came and collected them. A few days later, once he had sorted all the paperwork the new one was delivered to my door safely having been picked up by him from the supplier. I have said before that I would deal with Ian Murray again which I now have (again) and have never had any problem that couldn't be sorted. I hear what other reviewers have said about non returned phone calls but give him a break, he's a small business, has an answering machine and a mobile number too. What more do you need?

Stay Away!!!

Dealer offered to sell my motorbike on my behalf (sale or return agreement) and after some smooth talking from the owner (Mr Murray) I agreed to this. They sold my motorbike quite quickly but "forgot" to inform me. I only found out after calling into the shop a number of weeks later to see if it had sold - Mr Murray was not in and my motorbike was nowhere to be seen! The staff were clearly embarrased and did no know quite what to say, but reading between the lines I was given the impression that this was not a unique situation. Mr Murray would not take phone calls and did not respond to my messages and it took one more visit about one week later before I received payment AND I received less than I was initially led to believe I would get. Knowledgeable - YES, Plausable - VERY, Trustworthy - ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Repeat Customer

I have bought two bikes so far from Ian Murray over the years, one when he was at the old premises and another from the new showroom. Easy to strike a deal and down to earth. Delivered the bikes to my door. Will certainly deal again. Handy service as doing MOTs now too so it's a one stop shop for established motorcyclists. Bikes and service only. If it's clothing and helmets you want go elsewhere as he doesn't stock many if any at all!

The custom built unit is on two levels, clean and well laid out. No fancy extras that cost and get added on to the bill and the workshop staff will tackle and usually succeed in any job put before them.

A little tricky to find at first but a good sat nav takes you right to the door.

Buyer (or Seller) Beware

Following two transactions with this firm and being a party to a friend's nearly transaction my advice to prospective purchasers and sellers would be to exercise extreme caution. The confidence building tactics employed by Mr Murray to induce a deal frequently fail be reflected in the final terms of that deal. He will seek to introduce reasons for not complying with initial statements or promises. Attempts to communicate fall on deaf ears. Reasonably smart premises and on the face of it attractive stock but what you see (or hear) is not at all always what you get. CAVEAT EMPTOR.
