Any Excuse To Charge Were Not Required.

I recently contacted Honda in regards to my Civic. I had lost my one and only key but managed to get a key cut by using the barell to replicate from.

Now as per norm you need the red key to programme from to a new key.

Honda advised that all locks and barell would need to be replaced costing £700 as there quote or alternate would be a new ECU replacement which is to do with the imobilizer in order to start the car.

I was messed about from the start as over the phone was advised to bring in new key and log book. At attending my appointment was only then advised to bring in the car and require the red key...how can one bring in the car which does not start?...always fully advise your customers of what is required upon the origonal call not when you take time out from work to attend only for you to waste a customers precious time.

I have now found all the above is not required and a money making scheme by main dealerships as a new key with the correct software can programme against the current imobilizer costing under £150.00.

This just re-enforces my belief against shoddy dealerships and how they try and make money from you when only a simple programming will resolve the issue.

If anyone else has any issue regarding security or reprogramming do not use this or any dealership, contact me instead.
