I have same idea according to the above ideas. But my views are little bit different from them beacuase i always suggest use different sources to get a rough idea of the value of the used car: your local dealerships, internet car-evaluating tools, such asleasinacar.biz to name but a few. Another way to pin down a good estimate is to compare the lease on your given car to a lease on a new-car with the same make and model. This should give you a better picture of the difference between leasing new and going for used. Just like leasing a new car, used vehicle leasing is more attractive when residual values depreciate the least. You stand a better chance of finding a bargain in the high-end, luxury vehicles that keep their values better as used cars.

WE HAD PREVIOUSLY USED PILKINGTON FINANCE WHEN LEASING OUR LAST VEHICLE AND WAS CONTACTED BY JAMES IN APRIL 10 OFFERING US A GREAT DEAL THROUGH EXCALIBUR LEASING. WE ORDERED A NEW RANGE ROVER SPORT BRAND NEW AND WAS TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 16 WEEKS FOR THE VEHICLE TO ARRIVE AND BE REGISTERED AND HAD TO PAY A £5,000 DEPOSIT. WE CONTACTED THEM IN JULY 10 AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD BEEN DELAYS AND WE ARE NOW NOT GOING TO RECEIVE UNTIL NOV 10 AT THE LATEST, AS WE HAD PREVIOUSLY DEALT WITH JAMES AT PILKINGTON WE TRUSTED THEM AND WAITED. NOVEMBER CAME AND STILL NO SIGN, THEY NEVER ANSWERED OUR CALLS, EMAILS, MESSAGES-NOTHING. WE THEN RECEIVED A LETTER FROM EXCALIBUR SAYING WE WOULD BE GETTING IT JAN 11 AND THEY WILL CONTACT US IN JAN TO ARRANGE DELIVERY- SURPRISE SURPRISE NO CAR. WE HAVE NOW DISCOVERED THEY HAS CEASED TRADING AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE CAN DO. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL POLICE BUT WAS TOLD THAT UNLESS WE COULD PROVE THEY HAD NO INTENTIONS IN PROVIDING US WITH THE CAR AFTER THEY TOOK THE MONEY THEN WE CANT DO MUCH MORE. i WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HEARING FROM ANYONE WHO CAN HELP AS TRADING STANDARDS MUST BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING IF THIS IS NOT A ONE OFF AND I HAVE SEEN TWO OTHER REVIEWS STATED SIMILAR SITUATIONS SO THEY MUST HAVE PLANNED TO SCAM.

I contacted Pilkington in March 2010 and was told by "Martin the salesman" they could offer me a brand new Mini but I would have to wait up to 12 weeks and asked for £1000 deposit which I paid on my visa card

After a few weeks and having not heard from them, I called them and was told there was a delay and instead they could provide a Ford Focus, which should be about 6 weeks.

By August I still had received no phone calls or paperwork or CAR so I called them again.

They told me that it would be here soon.

They put the phone down on me and despite calling and leaving messages, they never returned my calls.

Luckily as I had paid the deposit by visa, I claimed it back from them.

RIP OFF MERCHANTS.

In May 2010 I was offered a deal on an Audi Q7 on a lease purchase. Having leased cars in the past it was an interesting deal and the company Pilkington Finance were said to have arranged a good deal direct with Audi. Having put down a £5000 deposit, I was informed that I would receive the car in 8 - 12 weeks, but I didn't receive any paperwork. Time went on and I didn't receive the car, I did however receive regular updates from Pilkington Finance / Excalibur Leasing. When it got to September I contacted Audi direct and looked on some of the Forums and indeed there was a big delay on delivery of new Audi Q7s as demand had been so high. So everything seemed to tie together. I was then given a date of November 11th for delivery. This came and went and I was told it wasn't my car that had arrived, however mine would be delivered direct to me on January 27th 2011. Since Mid January I have heard nothing at all from Pilkington Finance or Excalibur Leasing. Having written to them and involved a solicitor and Consumer Direct they were not returning my calls at all.

Yesterday March 6th 2011, I discovered Pilkington Finance have now ceased trading. On further investigation I spoke with the serviced offices Excalibur Leasing were trading from and was told by their Landlord that he has had numerous calls and visits from clients and from Police Fraud Investigators and Trading Standards. However Excalibur simply vanished one night. At this point I have lost the £5000 I put down as deposit and also about the same I amount I have spent in hire cars waiting for my car to be delivered. Pilkington Financial Services Ltd and Excalibur Leasing are the same company - owned by Tahir Iqbal Khan. Today Excalibur Leasing's website is still up and running along with their phone lines and they are still advertising cars. But please please think twice if you are considering using them, you will NEVER receive a car or see your money again.
