Sales Poor

Having called at the Vauxhall site, I was greeted by three sales staff, one behind the sevice desk the other on a chair with his feet on the counter of the desk, when asked what we were looking for, my daughter advised the new Astra, the congestion then went, have you purchased a car from us< we told the as a family we have had three vauxhalls previously but had purchased them from Southern in Merthyr, there reply was " Southern shut today then" I asked for a price list but was told the printer was broken, I asked them to send by e mail to which I was told again get it of the your web site.

As I work in the motor trade I think the overall attitude was discussing. Couple of points

They couldn't have cared if they sold me a car, surly the answer was what can we do to sell you a new car, we purchase the others because a very good friend used to work for them, he has since moved on, so there was an opportunity to see me a car?

To gain my contact details, in these days of data base customers surly again this was a missed opportunity my e mail address and details

And of course not have me sending a written compliant to both Newtown and Vauxhall

Awful Do Not Buy From This Dealer

bought a vauxhall merivs automatic had nothing but problems with it. the after sales care and service is non existent -once they've got your money they don't want to know. i am a disabled person no courtesy car offered as they only have manuels. the car has been back and for their service garage countless times still the problem remains. the car is unsafe to drive and i have wondered if their mechanics are even looking at the car. trading standards now involved. an awful experience for me and my family. please don't buy from these people.

as other reviews have stated the sales team are lovely -cannot do enough for you but remember once they have your money if you have any problems they do not want to know.

Fantastic Dealer And Service

I have recently purchased a new Vauxhall Meriva from Newtown Motors and I must say the service from start to finish has been fantastic. My wife and I were looking to downsize our Zafira and after much deliberation decided on the Meriva. The sales department were more than helpful at every turn making sure we were happy with our decision. We collected the vehicle and it is a joy to drive, I have even managed to get my wife behind the wheel and she said it was much easier to drive and park than the Zafira. The electric parking brake takes a little bit of getting used to but now I wonder why i was nervous of it.

Thank you Newtown!!!!!!

Keep Clear Of This Dealer

Ill start by saying the problem with this company IS NOT from the sales side. As the main person who was dealing with our sale was helpful right to the end.

So here we go, I bought a Chevrolet Spark 1.2LT (11 plate) from Newtown Motors new off the forecourt. We bought this over the Christmas period and found that the car had a massive wobble between 50-70mph.

The car was in and out of their service/maintenance department for approx 6months. Total of 12 times and the issues were still present (better, but never the less PRESENT).

Whilst the car was in the service centre the damaged the dashboard and door panels.

The trouble we had was that no one listened and to cover it over were telling us things like, "the wobble is a characteristic of the car", "if it was a older person driving they wouldn't feel the wobble because they don't do those speeds", "it must be your erratic driving", "Well 5 people test drove this and non of them saw the wobble". All pathetic excuses for not being able to find a fault.

We were past from pillar to post speaking with managers in every department. Non of which could make a decision that would be set in stone. Non of which had the back bone to actually return calls when information was against them.

In the end a few threatening letters were sent and Newtown Motors decided to offer us a exchange (at our cost). When we first bought the car we had a budget. The new car they were offering was more than double what our budget was. NICE TRY...

Anyway we settled for a older car (Vauxhall Astra 59 plate) picked car up and there were a few little issue to resolve. No problem the service team can sort them!

Leave car here and pick it up tomorrow and it will all be sorted.

Arrive next day to collect car. The SAGA continues, car hasn't even been looked at.

Told it would only take a hour, 3 hours of waiting later and someone comes out. Oh sorry sir we smashed your wing mirror. Its going to take 3 days for the parts to arrive. So we need it back in again.

The worst bit about all of this is the lack of communication, the complete incompetence from all members of the Service Department (Which apparently is "NETWORK Q" approved) and the lack of a spinal cord from managers.

Moral of this story is stay well clear... Because I can guarantee any issues you have with your car will be "YOUR FAULT"...

Sorry to see you've had a problem with them. I too will never go back there again when the 5 yr deal runs out on my car...

And in all honesty if you would be so kind to pass this similar message on to anyone you know who is thinking of buying a vauxhall. The llanfoist vauxhall has MUCH better customer service and more HELPFUL people there. No wool pulling operations running there!!!!

I WILL ALWAYS take my vauxhall there from now on...

So if you can get to them, please DO! It will be a less stressful experience all round... And possibly well worth the extra petrol and inconvenient drive...

My Wife has a vauxhall meriva through motability,I would concur with shanej2k remarks on the sales side of things,However, recently had a block of warning lights appear on the dashboard, she was reliably informed by the RAC Mechanic that it has something to do with the service! of the car.

A telephone call was made to this company, and a member of their staff informed my Wife that,'due to mechanics phoning in sick',they would be unable to repair the fault for at least 7 days, this is contradicting what the RAC chap said, about the garage the previous day being full of cars undergoing services & mechanics.

Several phone calls have been made both to the garage & my Wife, the latest was after the RAC dropped the car off at the garage, the chap on the phone asked my Wife what the problem is,I mean really, after the RAC report,?,and my Wife explaining on several occasions!!! He then went on to claim it was something to do with the breaking system, even though the RAC made no mention of this,on about the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

Without the assistance of motability,I really don't know what my Wife would have done, she was initially informed by this company that there would not be any courtesy cars available, after motabilities intervention, she has one coming today,I feel sorry for their customers who don't have someone to kick them up their collective backsides.

My Wife is halfway through her 3yr contract with this amateur outfit, and will NOT be going back, after all the experiences lack of customer support, and slopey shoulders mentality, she has decided enough is enough, this company was apparently set up by a family, which is my opinion as neglected to enforce it's own principles eg.looking after your customers...
