We bought a car from Britannia Autos LTD last November. Unfortunately we didn't read their reviews first. We bought a BMW 1 Series for around £5000, 100,000 miles on the clock. The MOT had been done a few weeks prior to us buying it, and had flagged a few issues (wheel trim & brakes), but nothing horrendous. We got a 3 month warranty from the dealer at purchase.

Unfortunately around month 4 the car started playing up, and we'd find DTS (dynamic traction control) turn on when you're driving down the motorway. This is obviously very dangerous. Outside of warranty, we decided to take the car to our local BMW garage.

The garage found a whole host of issues, but most worryingly, the brake sensors had been bypassed. New sensors had been plugged into the brakes, but weren't plugged in at the other end to the car! Upon checking the brakes, all needed replacing, and some were down to the metal. Brake discs needed replacing as well.

Effectively the car wasn't road worthy. The BMW garage quoted us £1600 to get the car to be roadworthy! For a car that we'd had for 4 months, and had used minimally.

We can't be sure that Britannia Autos LTD had tampered with the brake sensors to hide the issues, but they should have known that this had been done to the car, and shouldn't have sold it in that condition.

Subsequently we've gone back and read reviews of them, and it would appear that they do this frequently - sell unroadworthy cars, leaving punters with a hefty garage bill shortly after purchase. Buy from Britannia Autos LTD at your peril!
