Avoid
I have bought 6 months old car , which has been faulty.
When we were buying a car, the service was nice, when the car broke down after 5 days, the staff from Arnold Clark, started to avoiding us. They ignored the phone calls, they couldn't explain what should be done in this situation, we have been given only misleading information. When we met the first of the Managers, who did not have any manners and shouted, he tried to tell us that we were liars and did not know about finances. We highly recommend for him to take some classes how to speak to your clients. We didn't get a replacement car even we asked a few times, and it took 2 months to get our money back from finance company, not from them. Personally, we do not recommend even viewing cars in Arnold Clark, and do not buy from them.

When It Goes Wrong.. It Goes Wrong!
Bought a car from Arnold Clark in Dundee several years ago. Each subsequent year I went back to their Service Centre from Servicing and/or MOT. Continued to use them because everything went smoothly and got friendly service.
This last time it all went pear shaped. Took them over a week to get in a simple part needed to pass the MOT, during most of which I was left without a courtesy car. When it supposedly arrived, it turned out to be the wrong part. Waited several more days for replacement to come in. Went into the Service Centre to complain to a manager on the day the part was expected because no-one had called me. I was obviously frustrated and annoyed, but tried to explain as politely as possible only to be accused of threatening the person I was speaking to. Was passed from one member of staff to another, each making excuses and/or passing the blame onto a different department with explanations that didn't match up.
Absolutely no interest in Customer Service whatsoever, only in shifting the blame elsewhere, eventually blaming their parts supplier despite one manager previously admitting the part had been "misordered".
All in all I dealt with at least five different members of staff and not a single one had the decency to take any responsibility for the situation nor offer any sort of apology for the delay and stress caused by it.
I don't judge a company on the mistakes it makes. They can happen to anyone. I judge them on how they handle them when they do happen. When it went wrong for me, I was slandered and berated for showing even the slightest sign of annoyance and was told by multiple managers that it was not part of their job to put up with angry customers raising their voices even slightly.
Well... if you don't want angry customers raising their voices, learn the meaning of the phase "Customer Service".

Would Rate Lower If An Option
Bought a car from arnold clark dundee 1 year ago. Car had just been serviced and mot'd and came back with not even a single advisory at point of sale. Took out the service, care and mot plan, and at first visit it came back with a list of faults. Everything from snaped suspension spring, faulty lights front and back, failed seat belt, and more. They then told me that the parking break cable they inspected a year ago was completely rusted and sheered. Hard to belive it was parked on a steep hill out of gear that morning. Arnold Clarke either just pass any car they intend to sell with flying colours regardless of safety or condition , or they are dishonest enough to falsify faults that unsurprisingly enough are not covered in their care plan.

Prices Are Total Rip Off !
Price quoted for 30 minute repair was £139 (Arnold Clark Balfield Rd Dundee) Considering the price of the part was only £10.52 I queried this inflated price but was assured it was correct. All i can say is they are totally ripping people off. Another quote from local garage was £35 (me supplying part) for same work. In end i decided to buy the fiat part (£10.52 from same Arnold Clark) and fitted it myself no problem.

Tyre Fitting Surprise
Ordered tyres through Asda and selected Arnold Clark to fit them(Belafield Road).Having never visited Arnold Clark before I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and clean surroundings.Told car would be ready at 11:30 which it was.Not only that but for no extra cost the mechanics checked the vehicles fluid levels and cleaned the interior. Also found out that Arnold Clark would price match any tyre and exhaust price that I had.How could I possibly grumble at such customer service?I could not fault them in any way.It may be different buying a car but for tyres you'll struggle to find a better service.

Miss Sold Finance
Saw a car I liked at AC asked about finance , they wanted to take a deposit before checking finance but I insisted it was checked first, once cleared i secured a car with a deposit. 4 months later a call to say the car was not on the production line and that we would have to wait another month, with only 2 weeks left to go we got a call from AC to say the car is nearly ready but unfortunately finance was refused - WTF!!!!! This happened in Aberdeen never. Have I experianced such a lack of concern . How can you put your cars nearly ready but finance was refused in the same sentence . To say I'm outraged is an understatement
Rubbbish
I am extremely disappointed in the the manner I have been treated in the Balfield saleroom. I bought a car from the East Dock Street department a year and a half ago and the service was excellent. So my first option when buying a new car was Arnold Clark, however I didnt visit East Dock Street, I went to Balfield Road....I negotiated a sale with the sales rep (myself and my friend as she was my guarentor, as with the previous dealings with Arnold Clark)anyway, on the day of purchase Salesman X calls my friend to say she is not on insurance at 08.30hrs and also informs her that the car will be ready at 10.00hrs. We arrived at 14.15hrs and informed that salesman X is dealing with another customer and will be with us shortly, no problem, we can wait the 15 mins we were told it would take. Salesman X approaches us and informs us that the customer he is with has forgotten her paperwork so he will be a.s.ap. Asked Salesman X that as we have everything signed off previously could he do our stuff while he waited, no he couldnt do that and waved to where the coffee machine is located and to help ourselves. Salesman X did ask, I assume, his Manager to help him out and 1 other colleague but they were too busy. Salesman X asked my friend if she could come back as the car was still being valeted and he was behind in general, we explained to him where we lived and that would not be possible and we were on a timescale as my friend's daughter had a G.P appointment, we were after half an hour asked to go with another colleague who would start the paperwork at the back of the showroom, we sat for 15 minutes until Salesman X comes back and tells us there is a problem, that the finance is out by 1p, and will have to be done again, that..how gracious of him, the G.P appointment was more important so I could come back...I told him I wasnt going to do that and he offered to come and pick me up from my home (which is outside Dundee)...i told him it was fine, I would come back up myself....Salesman X then asked us to leave by the side door as he didnt want his boss to see us leave....I went up to buy a new car and left skulking out the side door without it.....needless to say didnt buy the car......

Avoid This Dealer And Purchase A Vehicle That Is Available.
We recently saw a vehicle on the Arnold Clark Balfield Road Dundee Branch used car website. A visit was made to the branch to look at the car with a view to purchasing. We were told that the vehicle in question was off to Auction yet it was still advertised for sale. We again contacted the branch as to the car whereabouts so that we could consider placing a bid.
We were told where the car would have been taken for auction. We were promised for the Branch Manager to give us a call. We are still waiting for the call. Not very good customer service indeed especially when we purchased a vehicle from the same branch in November 2013. We then contacted the car auction company where Arnold Clark send their cars and we were told that this particular vehicle had not been registered for auctioning. We were told to phone back again in a few days to check again. In doing so we were again told that the vehicle in question was not registered for auction.
A call was made to the Arnold Clark Head a Office in Glasgow for answers. We were told that the vehicle was bought by Arnold Clark on January 10th yet we are now in the middle of April with this car still advertised on their website.
Utterly ridiculous so my advice would be look elsewhere for a vehicle from a more reputable company who will at least look after the customer as I 'm afraid Clark's employees just take your money and totally ignore what after sales service or customer care actually means.
Arnold Clark will not be getting any future business as far as I'm concerned. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!.
