Guest's review of Metzeler Roadtec Z6

★★★★☆

“Metzeler Z6 Tyres. Excellent all rounder, now good value. ”

Written on: 11/12/2017

Bikes ---
(1) BMW R850R, 2 sets of Z6s in succession, fronts lasted 11,800 and 12,400 miles, rears lasted 7,800 and something over 6400 miles (sold the bike at that time.)
(2)Moto Guzzi Breva 1200. the front has done 9800 miles and is now finished, rear 6000 miles and still fair.

Comments. -- I am a mature long distance rider, reasonable speeds and sporty but not lunatic cornering. Cautious and smooth in the wet.
--- Important point --The Z6 proved a very suitable tyre for both these bikes, very neutral handling, easy into and out of corners.
---The front wore both on the sides from cornering and the centre from braking, so stayed the same profile ,-- the rear wore flatter from acceleration than the sides from cornering. Noticeable as they wore but very small change in characteristics when cornering
--- Of it's day superb handling in the wet. Even now very good in the wet, excellent tread patterns front and rear for dispersing water.
--- now, 2017, although the first generation of Metzeler Roadtec's they are still a very, very good tyre ---still selling and now really good value.

I continue to fit them.

( The new Roadtec 01 should be a fantastic tyre with the same characteristics but better dual rubber --- but currently very pricy)
