Read The Small Print With Halifax Savings Accounts
I was talked into this account and it turned put to be an expensive mistake. I had enquired specifically about savings accounts that could be linked to my current account so that I could move money around easily and regularly.
What they didn't mention is that you lose one month's interest every time you make a withdrawal!!! I had no idea until one year on, when I asked for the certificate of interest for the tax year only to find there was no interest And I had tens of thousands of pounds kept in there. Yes, I suppose this con will be buried in the terms and conditions somewhere, but as I had asked for advice on an account which would be easy for me to make regular transfers, I think they should have mentioned this.
It's not even as if it offers a competitive rate of interest. It doesn't. You can get better rate pretty much anywhere else. I just wanted the convenience of linking it, but I feel robbed. Well I have - to the tune of hundreds of pounds.
I will never trust Halifax with a savings product ever again.

Pays a very high rate, giving instant access (one free withdrawal per year).
If you have a current account with Halifax/BOS, you get an extra 0.2% on the Web Saver Extra, which makes it an even higher rate.
Very easy to set up - takes at most five minutes.
Very easy to withdraw from on internet banking. As it sits alongside your current account on internet banking, transfers to/from the current account take place instantly.
Highly recommended.
